    no McGeady isn't of that standard either. Not one player since Larsson has been of the standard to wear the No.7 jersey.

    There has no one really been 'worthy' since Larsson to wear the number 7 jersey and there is no one in the current squad that deserves it. To me it shouldn't be retired but kept for someone who is clearly a special player. McGeady is far from that.

    i dont think we will ever have a player like that again, i would offer it to mcgeady at first, and if not, the only person i would give it too would be if keano joined again

    if zurawski and junihiho have worn it i think our best player aiden could wear it!

    In terms of marketing it is neither 'just a number' or 'another number on a shirt'.

    There is a restaurant named after the shirt, the club uses the mystery surrounding the squad number to the full and you can bet they will have a say in where it goes next.

    That being said the player makes the shirt number not the other way about, someone should earn it not just be given it and expect to be a Jinky and Henrik hybrid.
