I voted no other reason, for a couple of reasons. The boards gone with who the supporters want again, and after what happened with Mowbray, I'm sceptical. Lennon also hasn't proven himself/won anything, again, the same as Mowbray. I know people will go on about Lennon knows what it takes to play for Celtic, but look at Mowbray and Strachan. One did and the other didn't, and guess who was more successful?! Would have preferred a well known european manager to try and bring in more big name signings.

in an ideal world i would have preffered an old head whos been there seen it done it. Realistically That was never gonna happen. After listening to his interview at celtic park I am really looking fwd to next season. What he said was so honest and simple and I think every fan would agree with that. I and i,m sure 99% of the fans will back him 100%. The board have to back and trust him , no questions asked. Do us proud Neil!!!! :icon_mrgreen:

Get a grip and grow up. Support your team. Who did you expect to be appointed?

I really wonder about our board. I can understand teenagers who do not have a long amount of Celtic history to draw on not seeing the mistakes of old being repeated but the board are auld and grey and should know better. It was the same feeling last summer when they ignored the lessons of the past. Its really weird.

no experience - lost to Ross County - cheap solution, however he is the manager so will get behind him and the team

Neil Lennon is a born winner. He knows what it takes to win in the SPL and from his transfer targets he's trying to get as much experience on the field as possible to make up for his own in-experience in the dug out.

Lenny is smart and takes no *, I honestly believe he's the second coming of Martin O'Neil

    Delighted!!:50:

And if he manages to get some of the players we have been linked with and instill his own passion and desire into them, like he did with the team toward the end of last season, this could be a great year.

Also be great to see Alan Thompson back at Paradise (when its confirmed) along with Lenny and big Johann.

Exciting times under a young, passionate management!!

voted yes but wouldn't say absolutely.meaning not overly enthused but not disappointed.certainly don't think he'll have the motivational problems mowbray had but the inexperience is a concern.

you've hit the nail on the head with the word winner, this is half the battle in management.mowbray, from very early in his tenure had loser written all over him.
i was one calling for mowbrays dismisal and was torn by feelings of "should i be giving him more of a chance" but even if lenny has a poor season i won't be doing the same,i think he could be a great manager for us given time.

Great appointment!!! Who else would we appoint? A big name? We can't afford one. Lennon is 100% committed to Celtic and will bring back the Jock mentality 'The hoops do not to shrink to fit anyone'. Brilliant appointment and if we don't win the league (we will win the league), but at least we will still be proud to support our club. Hail Hail Neil, good luck!!!

For those over the moon with his appointment, without attempting to start an argument, do you agree there is a MASSIVE gamble being taken on his ability to identify players? change tactics when the going gets tough? motivate players? deal with the pressures of being full time Celtic manager?

The reason I ask is not one person can say for certain he is good at any of those things, he has no previous experience of any of it to hold up and say 'look, that's what he is capable of so have faith'.

We were told there were 2 jobs up for grabs for certain this summer, the West Ham job and the Celtic one but we needn't worry about West Ham being a more attractive proposition because they're an ailing club on the slide financially and on the pitch. Well they've just hired a guy with 14 years experience of top 4 Premiership football, Champions League and international football and we've just hired a 38 year old that won 8 games when the season was over and has never signed a player in his life.

Strip away loyalty and the bare facts are quite shocking.

happy lennon got the job would have been happier if after the stupid wait weve had to endure finished with a bang .instead we get the news we expected with no signings along side him or older head,,not even a defo with myalby or thommo or is there...bit of a build up for what we basicly had in place. emagine if they didnt give him the job..lenny would me right to go nuts the way they have dealt with this is pish to be blunt..bring on the lenny signings....cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A club in the EPL will always be a more attractive proposition for financial reasons, the board are the ones who have appointed lenny, whether they were led by there head, heart or wallet, they will live or die by this decision, yes it is a huge gamble but when youve got the likes of lambert and coyle saying they don't want the job it tells you a helluva lot..........:shamrock:

i agree with what you say mate, what sort of excuse will the support say
if the players banned about don't materialize, will that have an effect on Neil
been appointed as manager. OR like been a guard dug way no teeth, just to please the board,
or will the fans forgive them, as long as they have Neil as there boss
