Its a win win situation. Season tickets would sell, shirts would sell, show ambition, improve team, plenty of goals why would the board not push the boat out to keep EVERYBODY happy.

I would love it to be true, simply not going to happen. How much would he cost? 8m? We would basically have to blow all our money on one player and we have much bigger problems both in midfield and in defence. His wife will not want to stay in Glasgow, wages too much and transfer fee far too much.

say he takes a wage cut to somewhere around 40k a week. 3 year deal or so results in £6.24 win wages alone. Add to that a transfer fee of 8-10 mil then it isn't going to happen. Who's to say the ticket sales etc would improve - Keane's first game at Parkhead against Hearts was only 50,000. Celtic could probably just afford a one-off payment of 8mil but the wages would cripple us as a club

Spurs have to want to sell him, Keane has to want to come back here over other premiership teams, we have to pay his transfer fee and wages, there is no sell on potential. I honestly don't see the boar going for it.

I think the money could be better spent elsewhere. We need to rebuild an entire team, and rather than sign one amazing player and have no funds for anything else, I would rather build a good, solid team.

Lets not make the same mistakes that have got Rangers into the mess they are in right now and throw away more money than sense.

Just a shame money doesnt grow on trees AAhhhh

Celtic would have to smash there all time transfer record!!! do i see that happening in these dire times??? NO!!! todays celtic are struggling to compete with birmingham and west brom never mind bringing in robbie keane for 10 million and thats just a transfer fee!!! not including the all important reported 65 grand a week he,s earning????

I would love for it to happen but cant really see it to be honest he,s far too good for us and is far too good for the spl!!!!

Times are really bad just now and the only way a see this changing is for big investment, which sadly we dont have, desmond has it but will he put it in??? i dont think so!!! i just dont know how to sort this mess out, time will tell if lennon is to get the job permanent but imo i dont really think he,s readdy, the only man in this world I KNOW can fix this mess is at aston villa just now and if i were the celtic board i would pull out all the stops to get him back up the road!!!!

Fee would be 8million ,wages will be looking for 65k a week or 50 k aweek on a 4year deal etc that would kill us , you could well be talking about 20mill all in with a sign on fee etc , i would rather we bought 3 or 4 players at 4/5 million each.

I'm gonna take you on an out of body experience:

You are harry redknapp. You have just managed to Europe whether it be champions league or europa. You sold Darren Bent to Sunderland and now he's scored 24 goals for his new team. You still have a respectable strikeforce that includes Peter Crouch, Jermaine Defoe, Pavlyuchenko, and even the veteran Eidur Gudjonssen. They do ok but consistency has been iffy this second half of the season.

Now, Mr. Redknapp, you look to take Tottenham past the group stages of the Champions League or to the Europa knockout stages, I mean, Fulham are in the final so it must be doable for Spurs. You have a fairly young-ish team and you need leaders. Sure, Eidur is a solid character but he plays off your bench and is very new to the team. Ledley doesn't train with the team during the week making his potential captaincy less than ideal.

But you do have your former captain out on loan banging goals in for a team that had been having a very rough time gel-ing together. Earlier in the season he had just returned from a very unsuccessful stint at a club deemed 'bigger' than yours which is incidentally below you in the table. His confidence had been shot and it showed. But now it seems back given his SPL displays of late.

What do you do? Sell this internationally rated striker so you can possibly see him do well, maybe even against you, in Europe? Sell him at a cut-rate because it would make him affordable to that team because their fans adore him? Or do you bring him back to strengthen your squad on the chance that he can produce somewhere near the level he has up North for your side?

If you look at it from Redknapp's perspective you can see just how unlikely a move may be despite it being incredible for us

I'd love to see him stay but it seems he is going to be sold back to the Wolves.

The only way we'd get to keep him is if Desmond withdraws the 8-12M or however much it has gone up to now out of his own swiss bank account.

Maybe Charlie Nicholas told him to do that? Possibly, but I doubt Desmond even called him. It's probably bullshit.

Yeh that doesnt make much sense. Hes came out and said publicly that he spoke to Desmond. if that werent the case Celtic would have plenty to say about it.

As for Keane well sorry guys he is off. He will have to take a wage cut where ever he goes in EPL but transfer fee is too much. Hes done his stint in Scotland i cant blame him for not wanting to stay on.

There seems to be a new thread with roughly the same title popping up every couple of days.

Listen folks, as much as we would love this to happen...it won't, now, I'm usually one of the more optimistic members of this forum, but even I can fully accept that Keane has stated he wants to go back to Spurs, granted, the way he has worded every answer to the same question since coming here, he's left it kinda vague ala Craig Bellamy, "it's upto the clubs to decide", I just don't see the board sanctioning that sort of money for a player Redknapp, who has stated on a few occasions, wants to keep.

The only way I can see this being a possibility is if we somehow convince Martin O'Neill to come back or bring in a manager of similar calibre who'll have the balls to say to DD..."...am I the manager, or are you?"

If anyone cares to remember, when MoN wanted Chris Sutton, MoN had a dinner meeting with DD and the moustached one said "you want me to spend alot of money on a Chelsea reserve who has scored something like 3 goals in 21 games?"...and MoN replied with the aforementioned quote.

MoN got what he wanted because he challenged the board.

He's not worth what we'd have to pay anyway.

Does that not tell us something? He isn't as good a player as people make out! I mean Wolves ffs, if thats the best he can do then he would be aswell hanging around here! I don't think he's worth the money we would need to fork up! Id much rather strengthen in defence and midfield for next season than throw money away for Keane!

He is still, by a distance, the classiest outfield player in our squad and in Scotland.

No Offence guys, but why keep posting stuff like this, its like some are holding on to a dream that cant come true, get your head out of the sand, it doesnt matter how much Celtic offer him in wages or are willing to pay for him, he doesnt want to play his football full time in the SPL....

    Would You.... ?

I completely agree, I already said in my earlier post its not going to happen but why is Lenny begging him to stay everyday? I read that somewhere,(Might have been on here but honestly cant remember) if Lenny knows he isn't staying then why would you ask him? Maybe Lenny knows something we don't, he must believe we have a slim chance of getting him on a permanent basis or why else would he ask him all the time to stay? Anyway the 8m fee makes the deal impossible so we have to move on, he has been a great player but we need to move on and set our sights on more realistic targets.
