Spot on. I've posted to this effect as well.

Keane has the opportunity to become a legend, remembered amongst Celtic fans for all time. Or he can go to Suprs or some mid-table Premiership club and in 20 years time it will be "Robbie Keane. Did he used to play for Spurs? Was he any good?"

I doubt to many Spurs fans spend much time singing about Garth Crooks or Steve Archibald.

I don't think we should break the bank to get him but I do think we should make an effort.

Keano is just another ok player in the EPL. in the SPL and at celtic he's a stand out just imagine him banging in 30 plus goals a season for the next few years
this could make him even more popular.
i think a big institutuion of celtics calabar can afford him if they pay around 40k a week.if he wanted to stay this should be ample for the lad.

if the board want arses on seats then this is the tool to use,if not we will be in the same boat hoping someone else steps upto the mark next season
    can we afford not too

Pointless pointless pointless........no not half our season but this thread.....everyone connected with kean has said he is going back.
Any if he stayed and celtic found the cash to buy and pay him how would we fund all the other wage increas from the players we have wage caps on.....?
Or would we play kean on his own...?

I think it may cause more disruption than it is worth.

Heard a few whispers than players weren't happy at him being on 3 or 4 times more than the rest of the squad.

Although, that said, he is a level above everything in the SPL, but... do we want to spend this sort of cash on a player who's about to turn 30.

Doesn't matter if we can afford him, which we can't. He will be playing in the EPL next season we should just enjoy him while we can.

Would love Keane to stay he has been fantastic, but breaking the bank is not an option for me, why risk financial ruin?

However I think with a couple of sales (Samaras and Fortune) we could afford him, next year second place doesn't get to qualify for the champions league, so if he could help us win the league, then a small financial gamble could be worth it.

WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT ROBBIE

Where do you bhoys and ghirls think we would be now if we didnt get keano on loan.

I think we would be out of all competitons and sitting 3rd in the league.

Also who the * is going to score goals when he leaves.

It's difficult to answer that. You never know, if Ras was given a run he may have scored some vital goals as well, not as many though. It will be interesting to see if we go for a striker in the summer with Keane going back to Spurs. Keane is a class above everyone else though.

If the board had genuine ambitions to try and bring Keane here in the summer, we could maybe get 2 players with the money that would have been available for him. There will be at least a couple away in the summer as well IMO. It looks unlikely that any of the loan guys apart from maybe N'Guemo will be here so we'll need players.

if spurs finish 4th I reckon he'll wanna go back and get his chance to play in the champions league.

not only will spurs have a better chance of making the group stages, they'll have a better chance of progressing to the latter stages.
