If we had spent last January we might have won the league and went straight into the CL, or our signing could have broken their leg in their first game, or he could have turned out a flop.

The board were wrong not spend last January, they gambled and lost but spending doesn't guarantee success we could have spent and still lost.

It's far to simplistic to say if we spent in January we would have won the league.

The financial figures released today are not doom and gloom, they are actually fairly decent figures considering all the external influences, however, as I said earlier, they won't matter if we don't fix the problems on the pitch.

if that was any other team other than celtic or rangers in scotland the bank would have pulled the plug, i dont think Rangers will go into administration, because someone would buy them, im saying ther flirting with it. My point being that anytime something comes up about celtic, its over reacted by the media, and it shadows the goings on from across the city. If it was us in the huns situation, we would be getting slaughtered every single day. Oh and dont call me thick!!

Got to hand it to the good doctor - he really should be on mastermind - his chosen subject...The Bleeding Obvious.

Yes Doctor you dont spend money when your on top,you get gallas and think your rivals will implode, your already counting the champions league money and making jokes, then it comes up and bites you in the ers.

You and your cronies think you can pull the wool over most of the celtic fans - well the 3000 gullable fans who stood to cheer the 65k per week 20.000 missing seat stadium filler. that will BUY us time and the Manager. - Looks like this is a veiled threat that there is NO money in the summer for new players and a new manager if Mowbray lasts that long. Thanks to your Balance sheet obsession were NOW were we find ourselves a laughing stock.
I wonder what Lies and Promises you will come up with next season to fill the Empty seats. - But DONT worry at least the Bumble Bee strip is selling well...lets get your priorities right eh Doctor.

These figures weren't released today as a warning or veiled threat, they had to be released to meet stock exchange regulations and they have to give a true and fair view of the financial state we are in.

Since when was the balance sheet obsession a John Reid obsession? I don't particularly like John Reid but the financial prudence is shown by the board not just John Reid.

Ok REID,LAWWELL and Lord LUCAN DESMOND - Keane was a Board signing to "Buy" them time and the Manager. for christ sake our defence has been * for ages and we buy a forward on 65k per week who by the looks of it is cant hit a barn door. We NEEDED defenders yet the board took the "Hollywood" signing to fill the 20.000 EMPTY seats. - sod the team on the park eh. lets save some money.

We tried to get St Ledger and Ramis but failed so we did try to get defenders.

Of course Keane is a marquee signing to appease the fans, after all a lot of fans were saying we needed a marquee signing to generate interest and get them going back so it's obvious when the opportunity arose the board would jump at the chance.

The board aren't perfect and they have made several mistakes however they are doing what they think are best for us in the long term, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

Well its NOT worked for 2 seasons - The board have TRIED you say ???? like last January when there typical penny pinching antics cost us the league and champions league money. - We NEVER tried hard enough to buy any of these 2...but we seem to have found 65.000 a week for a bench warmer called keane who WONT be here in 3 months time. great vision by our inglorious board.

Thanks for the info Re:Tax Danni :icon_mrgreen:

A profit is a profit no matter how small. Living within our means and still being able to buy a fair few players is not to be sniffed at.
Take the EPL - didnt i read that last season the only teams to break even where 2 that got relegated and Stoke or somebody? Thats says it all - and they have £29million a year each just from Sky. Not to mention league bonus's from Barclays (£12million for winning), BBC and ITV money, rights sold to foreign broadcasters and own channels/PPV. They must rake in on average about £40mill.
We get less than £1mill for TV.

Well we all know who is really to blame for this downturn in financial fortune at Celtic Park, it lies with Desmond, Lawwell and Strachan.

Last year when we didn't invest during the transfer window we effectively handed Rangers the league, they got the one automatic CL place while we were forced to go throught two rounds of qualifying, we won the first, but lost out to Arsenal. That accounts for at least £10 million of a lost, in the January window we spent a whopping £50K on Willo Flood, what an investment to attempt to win the league.

Secondly, many season ticket holders were disgusted at the Celtic directors lack of ambition in the tranfer market and simply chose not to renew their season tickets, so your wrong John Reid, I doubt if we still have miore than 50,000 season tickets anymore. The product on the park under Strachan was getting worse as the seasons rolled by, you can't kid the fans.

Finally, here we go again, no St Ledger, no Ramis bought during the January transfer window, plenty of forwards on loan or bought, but the weakess Celtic back line was not fully address in the summer or January, it has effectively cost us the SPL title again, two CL qualifying rounds again, this team have no chance of getting through, so our finances will take another battering in twelve months time.

Last January the Huns were down on their knees, now their situation is the same, however with the bonus of them being in the group stages of the CL next season the bankers will support them knowing that another £10 Million is on it's way, what a very costly mistake you made Desmond and Lawwell last January !!!

The debt we have is nothing in the business of football, sure the £10 million from CL would have been great, but we have nothing to worry about in financial terms. The thing that gets in my throat is the fact that we have given a lifeline to the other lot now ias ts almost guaranteed that they will get the CL money.

The difference this January was that we TRIED to get players in - yes that includes CBs - SSL & Ramis fell through as their clubs/agent were too greedy, the Board are right to set a limit on a player's worth.

Last season Strachan didn't know who he wanted, we made a late offer for Steven Fletcher ffs, I'm not sure if signing him would've won us the league. We didn't seem to be in for anyone last January - I think that was Strachan's fault more than anything.

We must be at least £ 500 k down for every home game this season due to the large dip in attendences , Money talks I think it will be taxi for Tony in May it was a gamble that does not seem to have worked .

Is this not just a prelude to next season as there will be no cl football next year either, is that not a blessing in disguise as if we’re honest this present squad would be no more than an embarrassment in that kind of company. But at least we were excused having to listen to Dr John cracking jokes about rangers !, personally I’d like to ask him what’s so fckn funny about them ?, we’ve just thrown the league away to them 2 years in a row and presented them with another £10,000,000 towards their debt , at this rate we’ll have paid it off for them !.

Ever occur to you that the current policy delivered these figures?

No SPL title, no champions league football, no lucrative summer tournament - and a downturn in ticket sales because the fans are so sickened. The seeds of this were sewn last season. Had Celtic been competently run, we would be turning a healthy profit and the Huns would be even further in debt. Instead, we propped them up at our expense.
