I'm fine with Sammy sitting and subbing. But this is not what this thread is about. Are the fans too hard on Sammy? Yes. Read some of the drivel posted in the previous ten pages. I'm all for sitting players when their form is poor, especially when we have options (Raz, Keane, Kamara, Fortune... what a selection!). So I agree with you. Sitting him down a few games is perfectly reasonable.

he is sitting on 14 goals in all comps and 4 assists. He has won Celtic far more points than nearly any other player in Europe and in the league. The players who have lost you points have been Celtics paper thin defence and the notoriously wet midfield. 'FACT' (as some fans like to say on here)..

He has been made a scape goat since he arrived and any fan on here who says all players are treated equally when they have a bad game at Celtic is chatting pure bollocks.

As I said before, Samaras needs proper coaching. He is not a finished product.

sammy will be a great asset in the coming months,i wouldn't have him in my starting 11 but seeing him come of the bench with 10 minutes to go will scare a lot of defences

Nonsense. In most of the games we've played this season we have created hatfuls of chances and had the majority of the possession and territorial advantage. So how you reach the conclusion that our midfield is 'wet' is totally beyond me. The midfield has in fact been the strongest part of our team this season.

I agree that some people on this board go OTT in their criticism of Samaras but I feel you are equally guilty of being overly protective of him sometimes. Samaras may well have scored 14 goals this season but he has been drop dead guilty of missing a large number of easy chances as well. He needs about 5 chances to get the ball into the net and his decision making is woeful.

For me personally I just find him frustrating. I'd be quite happy if we offloaded him in the summer.

the difference between sammy and everyone else on that list is that they get in the box and actually shoot. he is never in the box and when he is he doesn't shoot, he just loses the ball.

Everytime someone quotes Samaras stats, it reminds me of the early victorians trying to explain to the religious brotherhoods that the dinosaur fossils were not planted in the rocks by the devil. The stats keep expaining that Samaras is infact better than a lot of people state he is. I spose Samaras stats to these fans are like science text books to creationists in Texas/

??? That's a wacky way of reading the stats mate. My point is it's fair to criticize him on his passing etc... I guess. But his finishing rate is just fine. Actually, his finishing rate is first class according to everything I can find. I'm not saying he's as good as these other players, but he is a good finisher.

Hey, hey! I'm a Christian in Texas! :icon_mrgreen: But I get your point. Some things are simply there and no amount of argument is going to make it go away that Sammy finishes, and very well.

Yeah he certainly finished very well against Hearts in the CIS Cup and the last match against the Huns. :87:

Two matches that have had a very damaging effect on our season so far that could have been won if Samaras had got his finger out and scored the simple chances he was presented with. Samaras rarely scores in the big games and that is one of the reasons I'd have a guy like Scott McDonald over him any time.

do you watch the games or do you read the statistics and form an opinion based on that? I'm serious man. Statistics count for * in this argument. Saying that you're not saying georgios samaras is as good as didier drogba is the most obvious statement that has ever been uttered in the history of verbal communication. the fact is, he hardly ever shoots because he's wandering around the midfield or if he's in the box he loses the ball and then immediately covers his eyes.

You have a short memory. He scored four for us in Europe this year. He was a major goal contributor on the way to three-in-a-row and was on fire and had he not gotten hurt he would have helped to four-in-a-row. Stop blaming this bad season on someone who has done nothing but contribute since the day he got here.

The weird thing is those who don't like samaras, do not seem to take into account his love and loyalty to the club. Cause personally i have a softspot for players who are willing to fight and improve for the club's success, even if (in my opinion) they re not as skilled as i d liked them to be..
Well at the end of the day, i think everyone has already formed his opinion and it aint gonna change easily. So maybe its just a useless conversation...One thing is for sure... big Sammy has created alot of tension and controversy to the fans.. And i m not sure, that this is going to help the club, as actually what the club needs now more than ever (at least this season) is unity..

I'm not laying the blame for this season solely at Samaras' door so don't twist what I said.
