far from it. Hes only just signed , staying for a few months then off back to spurs.

He has nothing on larsson or jinky, who were established and well respected celtic players. Wheres people drawing these comparisons from?

I like keano as much as the next guy for his ability but thats it. Celtic legend? ehhhh?

For Keane to become a Jinky or Larsson we'd need to sign him permanently for him to make that type of impact on the club!
I'm pretty sure he could but not on a short loan spell.
That leaves a choice between Jimmy and Henrik.......and i for one can't decide cos i love them both.....don't want to vote and split them!

    who knows m8.

im sure he'll get us bags of goals now till may, but i honestly cant see a permanent deal happening so i cant forsee a longterm future ... and for a loan player , no matter how many goals he scores in 3 months, he'll never lace larssons or jinkies boots.

    haha :icon_mrgreen:

Thing is m8 , its a sad state of affairs when we sign big players like bellamy and keane, and roy aswell. Theyve all either had or agreed to a short term move to this club. It be great one day when we actually have the resources to hold onto these kinda players on a long term basis. Obviously the standard of league and wages is the big thing , but in terms of club stature were massive in comparison to the west hams, spurs etc.

Had to go for Larsson only being 28

Keane won't get near the heights of Larsson or Jinky in the four months he'll be here

Keane is quality but get a grip. Is Bellamy a Celtic legend? The loan is very similar indeed IMO. Both are great players and internationalists for small countries (probably their best players). Both have had rocky recent careers and fallen out of favour a bit prior to their loans despite their high quality. Both will boost our run in but it would be against the odds for the loans to lead to the title. Both are in a sense last ditch short term gambles to save a messed up season and will only be here for a few months (both Mogga and Keane have admitted this this weekend).

So how would you class Bellamy? I would say he is a memory of a good turn that helped improve us but didnt lead to anything tangible. A bit of entertainment by a player of quality that is beyond our normal means but just a footnote in our history. Never nmind Jinky etc, Keane doesnt have time to be remotely as important ao our history s Skippy, Artur, JVOH, Naka etc (just to mention our most recent stars) in terms of our modern achievements (3 titles, 2 last 16s).

The only real way he can top the Bellamy loan in terms of importance is is we actually win the title and Keane is at the centre of that. Even then, to put him anywhere near Larsson and Jinky is 100% space cadetery. It is nearly mid February and the league will be decide within 3 months at most and potentially just weeks if things do not go great. So that is an aboslute max of 3 months of meaningful games and potentially far less. I am just going to enjoy him until/if the title is gone and then I wouldnt be interested as he is gone in the summer.

and how can he possibly be said to have been more important to us than dozens of players below Larsson and Jinky. Even recent guys like Artur, Naka, JBOH, Skippy, Aidan etc have been the core of major success. Then there is the other MON up to Seville players, especially Lambo, Lenny, Sutton, Hartson etc. They are all far more important in Celtic history. Then there are great players like Di Canio, Van Hoijdonk, McStay, Frankie, Charlienick, and piles of others before that like McGrain, all the Lions etc etc . Basically you cannot be a legend in 3 months. Keane is more like a short term boost of the sort we got from Bellamy and Cadette. Brilliant players but no more than footnotes.

That is very different. If he had 3 years he could put himself up there with Sutton, Lambo etc but people like Henke and Jinky gave us most of their carreers and were unique. He probably at nearly 30 doesnt have the time left to get near that bracket unless we did something amazing in Europe!!

Never saw jinky play (only on videos and dvds etc) so ill rule him out.

In general terms comparing Larsson to Keane is a no contest. As good a player as Robbie Keane is he couldnt and wouldnt cut it at the highest level IMO.

Larsson was a step above him in every aspect of his game. Truly world class.

I wouldnt say Keane is exactly world class.

very rare to see these days, considering these guys were worldclass. True loyalty to their club.

I would put Keane in the same sort of band as Cadette, Artur, Naka, Lambo etc. Very good international class players but not world class. Very few of our post-Lions players were in that category - maybe Dalglish, McGrain, Larsson and Di Canio were truly world class.

Jinky and Larsson are untouchable. Don't get me wrong, Keano is a great wee player to have, but he most likely only remains a Celt for a few months.
