I'm not sure he is lazy, probably just knows he lacks fitness and saves it for attacking. I am more excited with Paddy on the ball than any other player at the club just now and believe he can remain an important player if he stays fit. I do wonder about his fitness through, it must be a natural lack, because Celtic should have excellent fitness coaches etc. and you would have thought that working with Paddy would have saw improvements.

He capitalised the fit for a reason.

Bit harsh calling him a dumpling but he is just never fit...

kinda unrelated, but i have a rumour about McCourt.

i met someone who said he taught Paddy McCourt whilst he was at school. he said it was common knowledge that Paddy had gone been offered a place at Manchester United, but the reason he never went was because his pregnant girlfriend said it was "too far"...so he ended up at derry.

so if manchester united offered him a place, then he obviously had some serious talent. but my point is that maybe his girlfriend reigning him in has killed some of his drive/motivation to keep match fit.

again only a rumour but seemed entirely plausable.

Unless he can play in defence he's the last thing we need right now

Gets forward and then doesn't have the stamina to get back, waste of time playing him at all unless it's the last 15 minutes and we're behind...

to be onest for someone who has been with celtic for a long time now he should be able to play a full 90 i think he is good at coming of the bench and hitting teams fast as the ball sticks to his feet really well but not sure if he whould do that the full game.

I'm pretty sure this is 100% bull, considerin he played for Rochdale then Spurs, or I think it was maybe Spurs were interested in him. Not sure. Either way, he played in England.

He was at Rochdale (near Manchester), and then the subject of a £2m bid from City apparently.

He may have had a trial at United or something, but to suggest it being 'too far' is probably nonsense I'm afraid.

I love this guy. I love this type of player.

He can be a joy to watch and I would love to see more of him. Just a shame about his fitness levels.

Why can he only last 20 minutes in a match ? He's been at CP for over a year now, why have his fitness level not improved ? Is there something medically wrong with the guy ?

good impact player to have coming off the bench ,running at tired dfenders as he dosent seem to hit it off as much when he starts hes more of a mdeiocre championship team player IMO but hes always injured * and does me nut in , not his fault , well i dont think as he doesnt ask for it to happin, but like it when the comes off the bench as you know he will have at least 1 chance that would/will lead to a goal

Paddy's skill and flair are not in question. His fitness and work-rate most certainly are. I don't see Paddy McCourt EVER holding down a place in the Celtic first-team for any length of time.

It's a shame in a way because when he has the ball at his feet he is the most exciting player we have by a country mile(not including Keane). Far more exciting than Aiden McGeady imo.

I know could you accually imagine him with the work-rate and fitness of Brown. He would be a world class player absolutely no doubt about that.

Really want Paddy to make something of himself here but I can see him remaining in the background, making the odd cameo and then dissappearing to the lower leagues in England.

Playing in the league that we do, we usually have to take players who are having a bad time of it lately or that have flaws; the latter being the case for Paddy.

I think the guy has boundless ability and if he can get even half way there with his fitness we'd have a great player on our books.

If he had an engine he certainly wouldn't be here, he'd be playing in the Premiership by this age.

We should keep him for when McGeady leaves. But McGinn will always get a start ahead of him. He will be a supersub for a while, at least.

I remember learning a while back that Paddy has small lungs, infact, I'm positive it was Lennon who came out and said this.

    Can anyone confirm it?
