Really from my point of view it doesnt come down to where the players come from.. Last night the team played with the same ambition and invention we see in TM's management.

We have now at parkhead the makings of a fantastic team from around the globe that need direction, from a stable captain and manager with intent and purpose on winning a league and not settling for a pretty picture he can admire (which Mowbray doesnt bother to do half the time anyway unless his shoes have inbuilt mirrors).

Its probably been said all over here, but Rangers have talentless diddies who play together and get results, because it comes from the front to play team football.. something we lack and will pay the penalty for if we dont see an immediate change.

I think he was just talking about the spine of the team if you were referring to Gunts post. The back 2 , Central 2 and the two upfront were mostly Scottish.

Its not all about technical stuff though. That is Mogga's problem IMO. He doesnt get the need to have a good few battlers on a team. OK they do not have to be Scottish but its the one thing we do well is a good scrapper.

but im sick of people saying mcgeady isn't Scottish because he plays for Ireland . plenty of black englishmen have played for Jamaica and other African countries but i never hear them being called African.anyway if the scottish players aren't good enough for us then they should not play but i think we should have kept robson

Aidan is 100% Scottish. Only daft commentators call him 'the Irishman' because he plays for their national side.

    Absolute tripe.

So you have to be scottish to have passion ?

    Rubbish logic.

Noone is seriously saying they have to be Scottish but tough fighters is one thing that we can get locally. Certainly it is mainly British Isles I would look to for those kind of players. Its the technical players that are hard to get locally.

aye it was a shame to see the squad out there flying the flag for scotland last night m8.. they scottish killie players must have been loving every minute! in the end we did end up with 2 scots on the park lol
I do agree with most though that the two Fletchers, Broony and McCormack are about the only scots i'd want in my team. I also agree with the lack of passion bit.. the teams that are getting points off us are alot more passionate than half our squad is at the moment.
    nice post davie :50:

I agree..not enough scots or celtic men in the team..and sellin skippy..a celtic man..luved the club..proven scorer in spl..scored in big european games..and hold onto samaras & fortune..this baffles me..the team is playin with the same passion as Mowbray and thats none..Rangers hav players like davis, boyd, miller, mcgregor, mcculloch etc..all fightin for the badge..a management team to motivate them as well..Celtic lack this and lack it all season..pretty football not gonna work in the rough & tumble of SPL..need heart, fight, passion and drive in it..these are qualities a club like celtic need..maybe not west brom..but at celtic its needed..and Mowbray doesnt possess these...good man, well mannered..but doesnt know wat a rant/scream is...job doesnt suit him..get Lennon in as manager, Stephen Frail his assistant..2 celtic men..and get brown in the midfield, give McManus or O'dea a chance, wilson or caddis a chance, and come summer..lets go for ross mccormack, lee wallace, st. ledger..and get fightin again

I couldn't give a * to be honest, when we did have Scottish players in the team, what difference did it make? If anything our defence was worse with Scotland's two centre backs playing. People complained about Caldwell and McManus being pish, now that the likes of them are no longer in the team, up crops the fact that we never played any Scottish players.. hmmm

well say what you like about no Scots in the team, we have 4-5 Paddy's and that don't make much of a difference either

I can't see the relevance of that point mate, I don't disagree with what you have said in terms of the Irish players making much of a difference but what difference does it makes what nationalities the players are? As long as we have a good team - which i think this team will become.. what matters?

It is sad to see the decline of football in Scotland. From the begining right up to about 1990 there were a * of a lot of great Scottish players. When people outside Scotland heard your accent they used to say 'you must be good at football'. That is how famous we were for producing far more talent than a country our size should. Also, is there any other country around the 5 million mark in population that has had a couple of European cup (CL today) final appearances, something like 4 semi final appearances in the same competition, 3 Uefa cup final appearances, 3 cup winners cup appearances (as well as the super cup) in the space of 45 years. Thats 11 final appearances in 45 years - average of a final appearance every 4 years. That was a * of an achievement. FFS we have even had two UEFA finalists in the last 7 years. Sometimes I think we should stop all this pity and be proud that we are miles more of a football nation than any other country our sort of size. Remember even places like Holland and Portugal are far bigger populations than us.

well the thread thinks if we had more Scottish players we would play with more conviction, i agree, as we have grew up with this type of football, in Ireland they where not allowed to see our football on the telly, they only seen English style of football, so the Scottish teams, where only a few had any interest in, as i have seen more man u fans and liverpool fans from Ireland than any other place in Europe.

Lets face it.. It's not a Celtic problem.. It's more of a Scotland problem , or a Scottish media problem , or more to the point , the Scottish medias problem with Celtic (this week anyway)..

    Ok ..
    McFadden
    Fletcher x2
    Hutton (Has to be said)

Probally the only real good Scottish players just now! Being Scottish does not make you understand Celtic less , it does not make you put in that bit extra. Scottish or not the player should always give it 110% when they pull on the Celtic and for that matter any other jersey!
