We all remember the horror that was the 2009 January transfer window. Everyone was full of criticism for the board for the lack of action. Now that we are chasing the title this year, the board seems to be a lot more active. My question to you is, are you happy with the board this time??

    Summary of Window:

    Out:
    Barry Robson
    Willo Flood
    Gary Caldwell
    Mark Brown
    Chris Killen
    Danny Fox
    [Loan] Sheridan
    [Loan] McManus

    In:
    Morten Rasmussen
    Thomas Rogne
    Jos Hooiveld
    Ki Sung-Yong
    Diomansy Kamara
    Paul Slane
    Edson Braafheid

And the window hasn't even shut yet! While the jury is still out on most of our new signings, I can't help but feel excited about all the new blood we have brought in, not to mention we've got a few jokers off the wage bill!

It's a very high risk strategy

BTM has replaced proven winners (last season aside) with unproven gambles - so far.

Bottom line is we needed a change and i'm delighted the club has backed Tony - this is the roll of the dice we needed :50:

Think there's 2 to come yet, possibly 3.

They must have worked very hard to get so many signings in, especially January window. Well done.

I think that the squad is stronger than it was in December and I'm happy with those who've departed with the possible exception of Robson.

Nobody can say they haven't put their money where their mouth is, let's just hope TM has got the right players. On paper at least the players coming in look better than the players leaving of which Robson is the only one i'm sorry to see go.

TBH I think so many changes in January, this has the whiff of disaster all over it. There is a reason few clubs do alot of business during the January window as most clubs do not want to let there better players go, and that those who do are either surpluss to requirements at their current clubs or we are forced to pay over the odds. Then there is the fact that few players bought in January hit the ground running.

Whilst I am glad that attention has been taken to solve the CB question, have to ask, have they panicked into buying too many too soon. Or has this season been simply written off by TM & the board, in preparations for the new season. I hate to be the voice of dissent amongst so many of Tims who view this as some sort of revolution, but I am a little fearful that, this is a very dangerous strategy that Mogga is pursuing. I hope I'm wrong, but Im more than a little concerned. I fear there is a very real possibility that this could blow up in Mogga's face, and if this does go * up then this could be a horrible & costly mistake.

im very happy! these guys coming in need to prove themself and i reckon its gona be a great end to the season. do i think this lot will win the league, no. but id rather we did something about it ie getting rid of current deadwood and fail, than stick with what weve got and try start over again come summer time.

i love transfer windows!! and im gona sit infront of ssn until 5pm to see whos going where, brilliant!!

Mowbray said he wanted his own team in ,thats fair enough but to do it in the middle of the season while we are playing catch up could backfire on him ,maybe 2-3 tops were needed at this time ,but i think he is going for his full team just now ,but then again maybe some of these new players are there to settle in rather than to play first team football ,time will tell.

dont think its that big a gamble the squad we had wasnt good enough and apart from robbo im glad to see the back of the players that are gone they always gave 100% and i thank them for that but they just werent good enough.

I appreciate what you are saying, and I agree, there are not too many in that list that I am sorry to see depart. Some of which have long overstayed their welcome and truth be told, a couple should never have come in the first place.

However, with the board having backed TM in this window to such a degree, I have concerns that they have already written off this season, and come the summer will the board continue to be so positive in backing TM, when a greater selection of players become available, when clubs are more willing to allow players to leave, and when we have a full pre-season to work with players and bed them into the side?

There was undeniably need to bring in some new players, with a leaky defence, especially in the centre that needed an overhaul, but so many so soon in the middle of a campaign? And then, as we have seen with Danny Fox, how many of these signings are going to get punted in the next window? I have grave concerns that the Fox situation has set a dangerous precedent.

Hopefully TM can prove me wrong with these new signings... but my gut feeling is this is a dangerous ploy, one that could easily backfire.

    Loan Signings? 2 winners out!

What do you think about the prospect of a possible 3 first picks will be loan signings only till the end of the season.

    Kamara
    N'Guemo
    Braafheid

Just a thought. I know we probably have a deal in place to have 1st refusal on these guys, but what is the crack if a team comes in, or 1 of these 3 just dont like the idea of playing in Scotland.

I dont think its a full proof plan, I like the idea of having guys who you can build a team around, or if they are not going to be there, then you are gaurunteed a few bob from them!

Aslo, think getting rid of Robbo and probably McDonald is not good business. 2 winners at the club, and Mcdonald has been our top scorer and proven he can score in Europe and against the Rangers on numerous times. For the money wee paid for the wee man (for all his flaws) he has been a great buy for Celtic, and bringing guys in who arent guarunteed to settle, while holding onto Samaras and Fortune while emptying McDonald, could be a very bad move!

The crack is mate, even if we do have the first option to buy - if the likes of Man United for example are intrested in the player, a wee word in the ear from his agent and the player will refuse the contract. Hopefully that's not the case.

3 cracking loan signings by the way:50:

I disagree with almost all of your post.
    Im sorry.
Mcdonald has to go as he will not fit in with the slick fast ataacking football that will be going on at Celtic in second half of the season.

Robson was old with no legs glad he went.

Where does he fit into our team anyway.

As for loan signings, its just the way that we have to go im afraid.

Im all for anything that will help the team claw back this deficit

I was thinking all along that Mowbray would put this season at risk to get all of his own players is ASAP. If we lose the league this year, I dont mind as long as these signings secure success long-term - on the other hand, Celtic fans will call for his head if he loses to the huns this year.

A loan deal allows you too see if a player is worth the money that is agreed at the end of a loan spell if you have that option, especially in scotland where we cant throw money about. ALready have 3.8 million on fortune and we are just trying to make sure the players we are going too sign are good enough. If they are going to have the chance of going too a big team it is good on the short term for us as they will be playing good
