Whittingham is without doubt our best player, 22 league goals from midfield is phenominal, not to mention the countless number of assists. I'd probably even rate Chopra more important to Cardiff than Ledley, and Bothroyd on the same level.

Dont get me wrong, it would be a very good signing if we could get him on a free with reasonable wages, but I dont really see him coming to Scotland. As (i know it doesnt matter as much these days) he is a Cardiff fan, and if he had the choice of leaving for nothing or helping his club out with a bit of compensation, then I believe he would do the latter.

Yeah, Ive always noticed Whittingham and thought he was very good. That is an incredible rate.
Ok fair enough mate :) Cheers. If he'd be prepaired to do that, that is pretty good of him.

I think you would find loads of disagreement on that. Whittingham and chopra would be ahead with most Cardiff fans.

This could be a huge transfer for us if we could get him on a free. He is obviously rated highly by quite a few clubs in the EPL so if we could get him here and has a couple of goo seasons then we could make quite a profit.

I didnt really want to go into this too much, but im going to throw some stats out there for the minority of ignorant posters on this board who still claim he is Cardiffs best player, despite me (a ccfc season ticket holder) claiming otherwise.

These are his stats for 09-10, bearing in mind he is prodominantly an attack minded midfielder..

    In 29 appearances he managed;

TWO assists.. Less than Bothroyd, Whittingham, Burke, McPhail, GAVIN RAE and Chopra..

THREE goals.. Less than most other midfielders at the club.

Now, is it just me or are those stats poor for a '7.5m' player? Keeping in mind Whittingham also plays in midfield and has scored 22 times and has 10 assists.

Im not saying the boys a bad player, and do think he would be a decent signing on a free and reasonable wages, but best at Cardiff? No. Best in the championship? Youre having a laugh.

Id rather it was Whittingham having watched the play-off games involving Cardiff.
Ledley is still a very good player with bags of potential and getting him on a free is a good deal

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
A simple look at the Championship team of the year shows Whittingham and Chopra had a better season than Ledley. However, the season BEFORE that, it was Ledley who featured, and not Whittingham. He is also 2 years younger as well....

This season, was he (Ledley) not out for a substantial period of time with a hip injury too? Pretty hard to compare seasons if so.

Totally disagree. Ledley in alongside McGeady is an improved team.

Na I know that. I also dont think it will be a 4 in midfield. Think 3-5-2 might be back on the cards.

29 league appearances, in my opinion that is more thn enough to accumulate a better assist & goal tally. He has been offering potential for years, but it has never come. Reminds me exactly of Liam Miller, had a good season and everyone thought he's the next big thing. I'd be delighted if he could get back on track, but I think the fact that he's not seen as first choice in a pretty weak Wales team says it all.
