I cannot be bothered with cardio, of course it's good for your shape and conditioning but weightlifting is meant to burn more calories. Besides, in doing what you do (playing 5's) cardio can be encorporated into a more enjoyable form in a sport which is good. I cycle around 6-10 miles a week and i am looking to get back into swimming which would be good for me.

Get a speed rope and do 5-10 minutes before you shower in the morning, cardio is the easiest part of a workout.

£1.50 for 20g of protein is highly expensive, a kilo of protein from the site i suggested to you would give you 50g of protein in each shake for a fraction of the price.

say you wanna take 120g of protein per day, that would mean 6 bars at £1.50. thats £9 a day, you can get a kilo or a few quid more!!!!

heres protein info on nuts, also fat content.

    thanks for the info.

    Got stuff to consider.

Have to say that i wouldn't spend that much at all. I would be looking to buy in bulk for cheap. Say if i but tubbed protein then, which type to buy and when and how much of it to take?

they say 1g of protein per pound you weigh is enough to get a good build on your muscles wether that be through solid foods or supplements such as powders.

There are many different types of protein but whey is the ultimate. It is the highest quality and the best form of protein. Whey contains the perfect combination of overall amino acid makeup for optimal performance in the body. Hormonal and cellular responses are enhanced with the supplementation of whey. The immune system also benefits from whey. Whey is so much better than all other forms.

    Ah, ok cheers !

Is Whey good for both energising and recovery (before and after workouts)?

I would rather take one type if possible

much better taken after a workout as the muscle as ''damaged'' at this point ant the protein comes in when it rebuilds making it bigger.

its not known for energizing before a workout, there are supplements that you can buy for this but tend to be expensive. there are cheaper versions but they seem to be cheap quality too, a good diet and plenty of water during the day and during exercise is plenty for a good energy level during training.

Yeah thats true. Everyone's different. But i think i am generally ok with an egg and a banana a glass of milk, along with water while wokring out. But as i have said am going to buy protein to aid recovery.

eggs are good for protein, 10g per egg on average. 2 eggs would give you the same protein content as the bars from asda at £1.50 and cost pennies in comparison.

the yolk being high in cholesterol is a myth, its proven that eating both yolk and white help your body take maximum protein from an egg.

    copy and pasted:-

Contrary to popular belief, and what i initially thought, egg yolks are not actually bad for your consumption. In fact it is the opposite.

According to certified nutritionist Mike Geary "By throwing out the yolk and only eating egg whites, you're essentially throwing out the most nutrient dense, antioxidant-rich, vitamin and mineral loaded portion of the egg. The yolks contain so many B-vitamins, trace minerals, vitamin A, folate, choline, lutein, and other powerful nutrients... it's not even worth trying to list them all."

He even goes on to say that "the protein in egg whites isn't as powerful without the yolks to balance out the amino acid profile and make the protein more bio-available."

Now i know that yolks contain more than 90% of the calcium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, thiamin, B6, folate, and B12, and panthothenic acid of the egg. Also, the yolks contain all of the fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K in the egg, as well as all of the essential fatty acids.

Now i used to eat only egg whites because of the protein and throw away the yolk because i thought the yolk would be high in cholestrol. This is a big misconception.

The fact is our bodies need cholestrol to function and will produce cholestrol if there isn't enough. There are indications that consuming whole eggs actually raises your good HDL cholesterol to a higher degree than LDL cholesterol, thereby improving your overall cholesterol ratio and blood chemistry.

Oh yeah. Even though they may be known for containing some, the body needs it as mentioned in there. Whenever i eat an Egg, i eat the whole thing without problem

I do this 8 minute abs thing, the first excercise is for obliques/sides. after the 8 minutes i get by ab-cruncher and do it sideways for my sides. I have noticed them become smaller and when i try to grab them, there's less of then. That sounds as if am fat but a just need to drop a couple of pounds only haha.

when people talk about their bench stats, do they include the weight of the bar?

I would always because even though it was on the Smith Machine at the time i said to my mate i could bench press with 20's on either side (this was a good year n a half ago when i knew little about it all) and he said something like oh i can do 70kg or something i was like, how there's not much of a difference. But it was because i was not including weight of the bar.

That brings me onto the question, most bars, do they weigh around 20kg in gyms? am sure the one on the smith in mine is 25kg in truth.
