My shoulders are not that good tbh like m8. But a tell what keeps me , well not broad, but have sort of shape- swimming. I used to when i was younger and i was in better shape then- am not old or nothing am just saying that weights on shoulders can be pretty taxing. I am actually planning to do some stuff at home for a little while m8.

I am actually not that educated on the gym and stuff so i am trying to see whats gives you the best effects mate. so am still learning and beginning tbh m8

Anyone have a weights bench at home ? Am looking to buy one - preferrably a folding one and i was looking for some advice on brands, quality, prices and standards. Not an ab bench, nor an arm one, just an adjustable one. :50:

Also with this, i am looking to buy some dumbbells, again, whats sort should i consider ? do yous know anywhere to buy em from ? Also am looking to get like discs of maybe 5kg and 10kg and 20kg. I have some atm but they only total 20kg. I needs heavier i think tbh- for what i want to do.

And just out of curiousity, whats sorts of music do people listen to in the gym ? I recently downloaded a dance album and i am bored with it and am looking for something new but motivational

Dont try to lift too much too soon. You could look at the reps some guys do but remember, they will have been doing that for some time. Gradually build up the amount of time or lifts in each rep as time goes by.

    Andy,

Cheers m8, al have a look for some new tunes

is this the bench you have ? :
Buy Pro Power Folding Dumbbell Bench. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for .

    - if it is, a was considering it but i read the reviews and became unsure.

What weights is it you have ? what is the total weight if u put all the discs on ? they from argos as well ?

    Cheers m8

Definitley mate, am trying to amintain my form. I know i could do one or two one-off lifts, but there isn't much point in truth. I am also trying to use the machines before dumbbells because they are equally important when trying to maintain.

Is there anything in the 6 minute run like did you hear about it in a magazine with scientific reasoning, or is it just a number you picked at random? I'm just asking as it seems like a random number i.e not a round number lol! Pretty much everything I read now says interval training is best for shifting fat so that's what I'm doing.

6 minutes is about 100 calories for me, 1 per 6 seconds.

Sometimes i do 500 calorie burners spread over the cardio machines.

    I've been plugging away for 6 weeks now & I've lost 13 pounds in weight & I'm able to do over 40 pressups in a oner, over 70 situps & 6 pullups...lol they're a *!

I didn't have much money, so I got a pullup bar & that's it. Did the 100 pressups/200 situps on here one hundred push ups

Watching my diet & really cut down on the booze, I'm 5'11" & in 6 weeks I've gone from 14 st 4 to 13 st 5 - almost lost a full stone. I've cut out all * foods & snacks like takeaways & basically just kept plugging on.

I'm aiming to get to do the 100 pressups/200 situps & 20 pullups & get down to about 12 1/2 stone - should be achievable by the summer if I keep at it.

Don't think gym memberships are worth it, but I'd like to be able to do the cardio machines right enough, as I can't go running anymore due to my * up knees - the cross trainers were really good for that.

    You'll Never Walk Alone
If you're looking to burn fat and you have access to a decent treadmill, forget the running part (well, I'll get to that) but the best thing to do for fat burning is to put the gradient of the treadmill to the maximum and put the speed to around 5.6kph-6kph. It's a fast walking pace and as the gradiant is at maximum, it's like walking up a big hill. Do that for about 20 minutes every second day.

Ideally, you want to be a little bit out of breath, but still able to hold a conversation with someone, if you're breathing heavier and harder than that, then you'll be burning muscle, not fat. It won't actually feel like you're doing much compared to the others that are belting it on the treadmill, but then again, those are usually the folk that are built like a rake with no muscle mass at all!

If you enjoy running, then put the speed to around 12kph-13ph and run for 30 seconds, jump off for 30 and repeat that for about 15-20 minutes.

As I'm cutting just now to get down to my target fight weight, my cardio is pretty intense, so if anyone would like to give it a go, feel free to PM me!

On another note, if you can, do your cardio first thing in the morning before you've had anything to eat as your body will burn fat and only fat. If you're doing a weight training routine, do your cardio afterwards, not before!

    love a good walk on
been out of running for a while, been in and out of cruches for the last year and a bit, built up the muscle and the fat sadly. but to my point, is that the best way to burn fat? im asking cos ive never really had to burn fat, was a skinny guy and a really good runner so i never used to be fat. so i was just wondering if you had any tips for burning fat and if possible to improve cardio at the same time? wanna get back down to my 31 mins for 10k, too young to do half marathon or marathon.

Aye mate, someone posted that webpage on here & as I can't afford gym memberships or weight training equipment (student) I thought I'd go for it.

    It's really helped & it's cheap.

How do you guys train shoulders ? / What is the most effective way to do so ?

I say this because having observed others in my gym i have questioned whether what i do is right/ getting the best out of me. I usually just do a dumbbell shoulder press on a bench (90 degrees or upright) with a suitable weight until fail- then i would either move to machine or go lighter.

I have a couple of questions on this because i have seen some people put the bench on an incline to about a 120 degree angle and do a heavier weight- though i seemed to think that this does your chest also- i don't do those on the same day so i would prefer not to do this- unless it is how people have seen great benefit. So incline or upright ? lol

And, i have seen people just do a couple of sets on the bench and go straight onto the machines on completing them - with very heavy weights then they just use the machine - presumably because it is easier.

So does it make a difference on incline or upright ? and should you use the machine or dumbbells , or both ? any thoughts at all ppl ?

    Cheers !
