I just don't see how Celtic could make his salary work. Unless he, like Big Sammy, came on loan then took a massive paycut next year. We could probably afford him for half a season then anything can happen.

This rumour refuses to go away, and has been surfacing for umpteen transfer windows.

Personally I'd love it to happen, but just cannot see it. I don't think the board are ambitious enough for it.

He'd certainly attract a few supporters back if it were true.

Would he fit into Mowbray's style of play?

Edit: Cheers TG. If he's on anywhere near 80k pw, I see it as very unlikely that we'll be seeing him strut his stuff up here.

sammy was 22-23 and suffering at man city

keane is not having the best of times without berbatov there, Defoe is a more direct player and lacks the intuitive passing element keane enjoyed with the bulgarian. That's why crouch seems like he may displace him.

having said that he is an icon to the spurs faithful, so i doubt we could lure him unless he is roundly dropped to the bench and a top 10 epl side (let alone a german or spanish club) don't come asking

Father Christmas I wish this would happen..I think him and Sammy would form a deadly combination. Not to mention Keane is a true Celtic supporter so we know he would give it his all. This is all I want for Christmas..and maybe a new center-back...

To be fair to players regarding pay cuts, a lot of them can't afford to take them.... That may sound silly but as a payers career is so short they are usualy signed up to an investment programme which requires about 75% of their wages (it varies). Keane could be required to pay up on 50k per week so a paycut woudnt be possible unless he could renegociate with the istitution that he's involved with...

Personaly I would love to see him up here... I reckon that he'd score bags of goals!

This would be brilliant, he'd run riot. Not sure if the board is ambitious enough.
I've got robbie keane and a new defender on my Christmas list.

Let's hope the parkhead money men can push this one through. I think Keane would be tempted by the move.

I dont like all this stuff about players being true Celtic supporters. They never decide to actually play for the club untill there older and not as good anymore, up untill that point they have been cashing in somewhere else!

Awesome player, would run amok up here like Bellamy did and he would probably be made captain aswell. Only way he would come is if Dermot personally paid 80% of his wages himself.

Dont think its a case of who we would drop for him, its more a case of who would partner him up front. In saying all that i cant see it happening :54:

He might come , when he is about 35 years old and getting past his best!! Until then these rumors will keep popping up every transfer window until the inevitable does happen and we will all read the headlines 'We Told You First' when really the papers just claimed as they do every transfer window it would happen until it does . . Annoying if you ask me.

Forget it he is too old to pay the kind of wages he would ask for. Go for a younger talent outside the epl where players like Marlon Harewood go for £5-£7 million rather than the 2 quid they are worth.
