Finally getting a settled run in the team and look what happens, scoring goals for fun, he is clearly the way forward for celtic and mobray with his freeflowing attacking football, him upfront with a pacey goal scorer and we're sorted. Mcdonald as back up

Good performance today but nup, still not convinced.

I thought he was mince on Wednesday, goal apart and he's just far too inconsistent for me.

I dont think he's a player you trust to deliver in big games.

Gotta agree overall i like the big man as a player on his day he's a world beater but consistency is a huge issue for him if he can sort that aspect of his game you can't argue with him his inclusion in the first team but until that time im afraid there will always be a question mark over him

You pipped me to it man, I opened a thread on him aswel, my computer * crashed on me tho..

But ye Big Sammy was absolutely awesome today, he is the only player that has scored in 3 back to back games this season, & he was absolutely un-playable today. His confidence is sky high & you can see he is buzzing, I would argue that Celtic have the best striker in the SPL in Sammy he has been that good the last few games, just brilliant from the big man :50:

& for all those fans that said they want him to leave in January, you still feel the same? Having a player playing like that, he isn't the "donkey" you say he is, He is our best striker by a mile & thats why Mowbray plays him, cos he see's the talent that Sammy has & well its getting proved on the park, great game today from Celtic & Sammy was Celtic's best player by a mile :icon_mrgreen:

He has everything technically and his problem is his confidence is very delicate. So I think we will tend to get great runs like now and early last season followed by poor patches. Hopefully he will grow out of that. He has lots of pace, great height, good feet for a big man, work ethic, a really great attidude/real gentleman type and he defo has goals in him. He really just needs to work on his shooting and develop more of a poaching instint IMO. I think he also seems to be working with Skippy better. The two of them seemed to really dislike each other last year. I personally think Sammy has a good football brain while skippy has less of one and that is the source of their problems. I have noticed that Sammy often peels of defenders and heads for great runs into dangerous areas but its not spotted or its spotted too late to stay onside.

Sammy was crucial to 3 in a row and he started last season great. He just needs an injury free season now and I reckon he will get 25+ goals. I hope Mogga does not try to force Fortune into the side because he and Sammy seem an unlikely pairing to work.

One of the main problems everyone says is that he lacks confidence, but the lad is young and has been playing incredibly lately, and not just for us but also for Greece on the International stage. I think he is a phenomnal stirker, who scores goal and can do so much more. Hopefully he will remain at the club for a good amount of time.

Excellent midweek and excellent today, on that form he is our number 1 striker and rightly so. Total confidence player though, when he's not in the mood he is worse than useless and when he is he is, as Mowbray said, literally unplayable.

He's a joy to watch in full flow though I must admit, just very frustrating.

If he played like he does on top form all the time we would never have been able to afford him and he would have been in a big EPLteam. Economics means we always have to take players with flaws if we want to get people with real talent. That was true of Di Canio, Cadette, Bellamy, Graveson etc etc. Even guys like Sutton and Hartson had fallen from grace when we got them.

He's been fantastic and great to see him getting a brace.

Totally disagree with the guys who say he's not a big game player. You'll find strikers of ANY class have quiet games against the best sides. I mean you'll see Cristiano Ronaldo disapear against the likes of Barca and Chelsea. But what compounds it for a team like us is we are normally disadvantaged throughout the team, so our strikers in the so called big games are going to look even worse.

So for big game performance just check the CRUCIAL moscow one-run, and his performances were also great against Hamburg, teeing up his partner McDonald on a plate. Sad that he gets such a hard time.

    Interesting point.

I think Di Canio was highly rated in Milan, but a bit Like Laudrup at the huns, suffered at the time as they had an awesome side and you could only name so many subs. Plus they dont have a reserve league.

Dont recall much of Cadete's situation, but Im sure he was a renowned trouble-maker at various clubs, so it proved

Bellamy had a major fall out with Souness, Gravesen was a laughing stock in Madrid, Sutton failed at Chelsea and big John I think had fallen into the championship with Wimbledon.

Sammy is a confidence player, he feeds on confidence, and if he feels he is loved and wanted at the club, as he is, then he will deliver the goods.

On his day Sammy is as as good as any other top notch striker in the world. Keep him.

I have to agree with gunt and it is an interesting point. Which makes me wonder, is Aiden's flaw his lack of defending and McDonald's his inability to do anything other than score, and one of our best players in my opinion is Hinkel but he lacks pace. However they are all stars in the SPL.

I've always been a fan of his but sometimes he can be frustrating beyond belief, definitely his confidence plays a big part and I can't imagine he doesn't get much help with fans getting on his back a lot but again that's down to which Samaras you get on the field.

I'm off to Greece next year during the world cup and I'll be sporting a Sammy top so hopefully he has a great season with us to spur him on.
