Yes I appreciate what you say but I am looking at the facts, going even further back into Celtic history, John Mcghlochlin at the beginning of the 20th century upset people by supporting the Boar war, but he was a realist and accepted that despite the emotional links with Ireland Celtic are from the UK and it would be wrong for this Club to decry what this Country does when its citizens lives are on the line or at worst are lost, thats why the whole poppy issue is so frustrating, we are a British Club with many associated with it giving their lives in war for this country.

Not that I am trying to change the subject matter of this thread, my apologies in advance to the Moderators

people should not be discriminated against because of were they are from

whether it be england, wales or wherever in the world

celtic has never been a club with these values

If you think the situation in Northern Ireland is the same as it was when the songs were belted out by 70,000 celtic fans then your out of your mind and have become so defined by the violence there that you may have become a hopeless perpetuator of it.

To those who think that the songs are 'Celtic' in nature the same way that Irish are 'Celtic' than you're ignoring the fact that Scots, Irish (and therefore Ulster Scots-Irish) both have 'Celtic' blood in them as well giving.

So if your gonna complain about when the 'gers fans sing about King Billy and his role in defeating King James (who btw, was a bit of a * toward Presbyterians), then check your own wartime shanties at the gate. The songs bring lingering bad blood to a boil and fosters an exclusionary mindset in the stand much in the same way Rangers' songs do even if they lack overt references to the amount of ethnic blood spilt.

So you believe we should just sit there and do nothing ?? We shouldn't sing anything, not even a good old 'And they gave us James McGrory and Paul McStay' ?

    That's pathetic mate.

personally i have no problems with any songs sung at any grounds in the world. at the end of the day they are only songs. its not just rebel songs that offend people. what about the songs sung about football disasters

I think he's saying we have our reputation in spite of it, not because of it.

Do you sing when you go to the movies ?
Do you sing when you go for a meal ?

Does the guy next to you having paid for his season ticket want to hear you sing ?

Indeed I do not however I go to the Celtic games as a supporter and not a spectator.

I don't know as I have not asked him this, however if he does not want to hear singning then I'm sure he knows where the door is.

I pay my money as well and I'll sing if I want too. You really think there should be no singing ?
