He's a complete enigma. Has the ability to beat a full back at any level yet offers nothing in a defensive sense and can only give you short bursts before tiring.

His entire career is going to be punctuated with the questioning of his fitness which is a bit of a shame.

I like to see him take it pasty players, even if he doesn't get past every time, it's really entertaining to watch.

And its nice to see a player who really wants to play for Celtic.

    Just can't get enough!

In a nut shell, that is exactly what this team lacks, actually wanting to play for Celtic.

Short of McGeady, who I think is believing his own hype and trying to beat a whole team on his own, and McCourt, players like McManus, Caldwell, McDonald etc all look like their happy to finish second to Rangers and collect a paycheck!

Pat is good for celtic, he offers something different to the normal boring pish. I look forward to him entering the field and doing something like run at players, go past players and have a shot at goal.
To many current celts dont seem to do that. Samaras, McDonald, Brown all take note. Paddy at least tries to get in on goal.

How can this thread possibly be happening after 6 appearances!!!

He has started 2 games! How can defenders know what he is about. last night they didnt have a clue! All they do is double up, same as is done on Mcgeady. Defenders dont know how to play McGeady. If he is left 1 on 1 then he will 99% of teh tiem beat them.He doesnt get left with them 1 on 1 though.

Fox was terrible last night. When Driver moved there he looked more dangerous. That is why more play went down our left. I think that when McCourt came on McGeady played better. I felt that the Hearts defence were more stretched and this is how we created loads of chances. McCourt helped our cause no end last night.

I would defo play him infront of Maloney who basically showing nowt! Why not get behind the team and teh players rather than everyone try and belittle their efforts. A little rich after I have compared him against other players but I dont see how we can start to criticse players who are exciting to watch and creating opportunities.

What intructions is he being giving by the manger, is be being told to charge at defenders to maybe win a few free kicks in dangerous areas or even penalties.
I know it is his style to take players on and * he can do it and with a rgood dun of games players will start to hack him down, if so just hope he does not start diving all the time, at the moment he is a breath of fresh air and about the only person that can turn a game round.

Put it this way ,i rather have him playing for Celtic than against us ,he can play and will rip defenses apart but he doest chase the ball back ,is he a luxury player that Celtic can say "you dont have to chase back ,we would rather you did what you do " or is that not good enough to be playing at that level ,he is an impact player things do happen when he is around but his defensive duties do let him down .

if his one trick is beating about 4 or 5 players then I can live with that predictability. Great player but can ge get the stamina? I would be tempted to give him the nod ahead of McGeady in the next couple and see how his fitness survives 90 minutes. If he can then he could be the bargain of the century.

One thing I notice about him is he is actually quite strong and a reasonable height as well as tricky. Hard to knock off the ball. With our striker options limited I would think about him just behind a striker in a 4-4-1-1. He seems to have a great eye for a slipped pass too.

I've known about paddy for years now and i am still totally unconvinced by him, potential no doubt, but an extremely over-rated player by a section of celtic fans.
    More excited about Mcginn.

That line right there,i could not agree more mate.

When i se paddy get the ball i don't even bother looking at the rest of the screen to see whos in a good position LOL i have every faith at that moment that McCourt will do something special. Fair enough he does too much on occasion but it is only on occasion and doesn't surrender the ball so easy as opposed to N'Guemo who i feel is vastly overrated at this moment!

If paddy leaves due to a lack of starts then it will be a dark day for Celtic FC.. we have something special with him (i just get the feeling TM hates every WGS player) :56:

EDIT: Even though TM tried to sign him at one point. (got that in before the comedians say hi)

Think he would struggle if was on to last a full 90 minutes, haven't really rated him as his ability hasn't been really proven against top players IMO and fitness is a worry. He brings excitement amongst the Celtic fans because his play is good to watch , but it is normally as a sense of urgency when he does come on, a case of "Oh *, we're losing we had better do something now"

i wouldn't say he's a 1 trick pony,he needs match fitness so Mowbray needs to start playing him from the start.Atleast with Mcourt your guaranteed a goal or an assist unlike the others at the moment..He brings something different to the team..an excitement

I see what you're saying, but there's one-trick and there's one-trick. If the one trick is a wee stepover or a flick then fair enough.

But if the trick is to go by four men and slam the ball into the net - it takes a wee bit longer for that to become tiresome... :icon_mrgreen:
