AGREE they sing about all this pish without knowning what it's all about. They sing about poppies british army etc etc are they not aware that sitting next to them are people like myself Irish origin and proud of it,, a 20 year regular (retired) in a scottish regiment within the british army makes me sick to the stomach to be assosiated as fellow supporters as these people,, Fine don't agree with the politics,, the british army,, and anything else that they may have strong views about,, fine BUT LEAVE IT AT THE GATE !! don't bring it into to the ground,, Support your team inside the ground not anything else! if you have strong views on the politics of the country or the injusticies of history let your voice be heard in the appopriate places NOT THE FOOTBALL STADIUM

Are you referring to the members of the Green Brigade in this post?

At least the green brigade have a voice which is better than what most of ya'll bring to the atmosphere week in week out. Outsung by a crowd of schoolkids, says more about the rest of the support than it does about the Green Brigade.

Could you tell me who gave you that information...especially the bit about the IRA also being commemorated by wearing a poppy ?

this thing with the poppy? if you dont want to wear it? fair enough! but singing the song about it is * poor! but the gb always stick to what the beleive in and always make the effort at games! so you cant really have a go at them for that.

but i will add this is the time when the media, and the huns look forward to rip into us about the full poppy scenario anyway and look to call us this and that cos people choose not to wear one or sing songs about it when really they shouldnt tbh?

    Let the people sing,

For me this somes up how much you know on the subject.

On another note, i'm pretty sure they're just against what happened last year with them being on the strips etc. And tbh, i agree with them. Many on here have said they are wrong for bringing politics into the game, if thats the case then the poppy should have been 'left at the gate' too, as its becoming more of a politcal symbol than anything else.

Support the white poppy of peace and ditch the blood stained one IMO.:50:

Are they hurting anyone? - No.

If you don't want to hear it, too bad, but ignore it.

Was up 111 last night, didn't sing along to the poppies song but a few of my pal's sang it purely because the rest of the crowd were singing. Most of the people probably have ancestors who died in the wars and are insulting them. Bad example for the GB to set to youngsters but if there was an atmosphere and a bit of noise at CP then you wouldn't be able to here these songs

This bit is what annoys me about peoples opinions on the whole poppy thing........the poppy is not just about WWI AND WWII.

I know, but most of the deaths in the British Army have been from WWI and WWII :50:

    And ?

alot of stuff has happened since the wars, alot of unsavoury stuff that the british army have been involved in.

For that reason i will never buy or wear a poppy and this is why the poppy issue should not even be involved in football...i.e stitching it onto the tops.
