Radio Scotland ran a story about Strachan taking a swipe at Mowbray for suggesting his signings weren't quality (and who could blame him). The story seems to have disappeared though. Anyone else hear it?

GORDON STRACHAN has hit back at Tony Mowbray's claims that his former players do not have the quality needed to cut it at Celtic.
Strachan has been unveiled as the new manager of Middlesbrough - his first job since quitting the Parkhead hotseat at the end of last season.
The man who spent four seasons in charge of The Hoops has rubbished his replacement's scathing assessment of the players he left behind in the East End of Glasgow.
Mowbray has repeatedly criticised the pool he inherited since he arrived in Scotland from West Brom in the summer.

The Englishman has stated he could need to buy up to 10 players during the January transfer window.
That has increased the possibility of Strachan, who became the first Celtic manager since Jock Stein to win three titles in a row, of moving in for some of them himself.
Asked about Mowbray's comments, Strachan said: "Yes, I'm surprised because there are some terrific players at that football club.
"I don't want to comment on what Tony might have said but I will say this, I used to go to training and think to myself I love watching this'.
"I loved watching some of these boys paying the game.
"I loved the boys with technical ability - the McGeadys, Maloneys, Nakamuras and Browns.
"I was so lucky to have so many good players to work with over my time there.
"In fact, I would set up the training sessions knowing fine well I couldn't wait to watch it or coach it.
"It was a pleasure to be on the same training pitch as these guys.
"These are good players and good men.
"I loved working with these guys every day."

I'm sorry, but for all my support of WGS last season in way too many games we were utterly atrocious and abysmal to watch.

Strachan has to shut his * mouth. he knows how the hun press works and he is giving them a puddy up to divert their eyes from the catastophic huns.

He bought a complete load of *. he was the only * who enjoyed watching them as i have never been more bored in my life.

Mowbary needs to get in 10 players at least and get out all but a few of the Strachan signings.

They may have looked good in training Gordon but come a saturday or sunday they were pish, utter pish.

If you feel you need to give your fuds support, * phone them. Better still sign them. You wont and neither will any other * and we will be stuck with them or have to give them away. It will take us years to get shot of them because lets face it, the board aint gonny spend.

Tony is right, the team is full of hardworking but technically inept playerds and the sooner every somngle one of the cnuts is chased down London Rd the better for all concerned.

Sorry Magic, I don't agree. They may not be world-beaters but WGS got a lot from them - probably because he NEVER singled them out or slagged them off in interviews. I've a lot of respect for Mowbray but I don't care for the way he tries to deflect criticism of himself by citing a lack of quality in the squad or picking out individuals' errors.

It's also not cool to slate the previous managers signings. I'm not surprised Strach had a go. I would!

Have a go with Mowbary, dont feed a hun press. We will need to disagree on what he brought, my point is dont do it in public.

I agree TM needs to hold his hands up and accept part of the blame for our current form.

However we do have a lot of mediocrity in our team, WGS just got more out of them at first than what TM is currently getting, but even WGS didn't manage to get much out of them last season.

Good on WGS, everytime TM slates the squad it is a direct attack on WGS managerial capabilities. TM needs to understand he has to build respect to gain respect. Those claiming WGS should directly take this issue up with TM privately, should also be saying why doesnt TM take his issues up with his players privately. Bad players or not people dont deserve to be publically slated when they haven't done anything directly wrong and trying their best.

Although to be fair he was given the task of reducing the wages at the club, bringing on the youngsters and being succesful at the same time.

He did do all of that!!! IT WASN'T PRETTY THOUGH

Tbh I couldn't give a monkey's * what Gordon Strachan thinks. I wish he'd just shut his trap and let Tony Mowbray do the talking about our players. I'd rather have Tony Mowbray as our manager and would trust his judgement of a player before I would trust Strachan's.

Still not missing you Gordon!! :bbpd:

This is how it feels to be Celtic
So what you're saying is that because you are a Strachan hater for reasons only known to yourself and your pet budgie, he shouldn't defend players whom he worked with and built up a special relationship with when someone else slags them off.
Is that what you would do if someone was slagging off your friends or family?
Why the * should WGS shut his * mouth?
He has every right to say what he did. Or are people only allowed to say something if it pleases your delicate ears?

Strachan was asked for his reaction to Mogga's comments in an interview and just gave his view. He could have just said. 'What the * does Mowbray know. When he's won three titles then he can start criticising me.' but he didn't, he just defended his former players and rightly so.
By the way why are you so * angry?

altho i think we need to sell players and bring new faces in, these players tht mowbray has now, are 3 in a row players, and he shud be doing alot better with them, yes they dont fit into the freeflowing passing style of player/team he wants, so why the * is he trying to play tht with them, surely to * he knows by now they aint good at it, and to get wins he has to play wgs way untill he makes the signings
