We should have started with a stronger lineup and had more urgency in the 1st half.

Mowbray is not to blame. he hass a terrible squad . fair enough tonight he got the tactics wrong but in the next few years our club will flourish under Mowbray

 

why wern't samaras and mcdonald brought on sooner

Well that is just a sick joke. I had a bad feeling about tonight coming in but how we lose that game is amazing. First half was worthless. Celtic with almost all the ball but did pretty much nothing with it apart from a couple of dangerous situations. Killen got his chance and had little or no effect although to be fair I have no idea why we played 4-5-1. Or if you were going to do that at least have McCourt be the guy underneath the striker.

Second half we immediately looked threatening with McCourt on but then we get hit with the sucker punch on the pk and it was a foul. Then we bring on McDonald and Samaras and lay seige to the Hearts goal for a full 30 minutes. Samaras misses 3 glorious chances and we * away numerous other great positions. The McManus gets red carded and it was a red card.


Bottom line is this game was yet more of the same mediocrity we have endured all season so far from Celtic. Our attackers are not good enough for anything beyond the spl level and even at that level now have no confidence. Apart from some sparks from our wingers there is no creativity in midfield. While at the back our center backs get exposed game after game despite the fact that at the spl level we dominate most of the game so they are not under constant pressure. McManus and Caldwell are at best decent spl level players but right now with a terrible run of form they look terrible even at the spl level.

The fact that we lose that game against what was make no mistake about it a very poor Hearts team is an insult and embarrassment.

Well, WGS won 3 leagues with this * squad, and got them to the last 16. Tony Mowbray said he buys quality, Hes doing what he did at WBA, attractive football (at times) but isnt getting results.

 

Samaras is by far the best and most skillfull striker at the club.
His only problem is that he's a confidence player, and is suffering in front of goal because of it.
McDonald atm is offering NOTHING to the team.

Shocking result tonight, shameful cynical tackle from McManus, and Mowbray didnt even have the decency to shake Lazlo's hand at the end (although Mark venus did.)

right guys n gals a dont know about yous but im getting a bit sick of watching this crap week in week out in all competitions ive not been a mowbray fan from the start he was a decent player in his time with us but what has he actually achieved as a manager he got nowere with west brom no were with hibs and now its looking like hes getting no were with celtic the players dont seem to know what to do when they get the ball and dont know were they r supposed to be playing its not good enough and as a die hard celtic fan im worried for our clubs reputaton.that game against hearts tonight just highlighted everything thats bad about us no flow in the team and cant score goals its not good and something needs to be done and quick.

jeez m8 Mogga tried something different up front and when it didnt work he changed it. The goal came right before 60 mins which im pretty sure is when he would have made changes.

Leave the big man alone his system could have given us at least 8 goals tonight the players esp the forwards let us down.

 

was a bit like a european game with us having loads of possesion first half but not creating any chances and hearts could have had a few goals.

2nd half we pummelled them and just couldn't catch a break.

were unfortunate not to get at least a draw here but again its clearly obvious where our problems are central defence and up front

 

Bottom line.
The celtic squad is not good enough to win trophies.

It's very easy to say things you later regret in the wake of a performance like that. Unfortunately I don't feel that angry, just resigned and miserable. I could go on and on about different players and their weaknesses. However, the whole team take far too long to pass and move. Mowbray thinks he's going to create this utopian football ideal here and we all know that this team are not capable of that.

His failings are being unable to create a formula to hide these deficiencies until his type of players arrive. This is what has been said on these forums before regarding Strachan playing a boring formulaic system, which got us some incredible results. He did have Naka though, which helped immensely.

Basic 1-2's, tracking runners, fullbacks pushed too far forward with no pace to get back and lax cover for them. Centre backs who are too slow and scared of tackling, posistionally unaware. I know I said that I wouldn't single out individuals but it's too easy.

This is going to be a * of a long seson and we have the worst rangers team to compete against and YET AGAIN we are letting them away with murder. Those idiots are now in pole position to win a trophy!? Any prospective buyers for them will look at the success that club could possibly gain and any financial gains they might make. At this rate they could actually win the * title.

I'm starting to wonder if Mowbray is the man for this job; sacking him this soon wouldn't be the answer. Come Christmas if things are still this bad, then I don't know...

 

tonight??? try all season mate. If ya cant beat hearts, and one of the worst hearts teams for a while, something is wrong!!! this run of results is just not good enough and frankly embarrassing now.

point is its not mowbrays team. fox has been a decent signing so far and has improved the lb slot. As for nguemo who would you have played cm 2nite? robsons not fit enough to be playing 2 games in 4 days yet, and browns not exactly great at keeping possession.

Its all well saying that now bt if ZZs 1st half shot had gone in wed have been praising the selection. ZZ looks a technically good and the only way to accomodate him and the 2 wide players is to go 1 up front.
