Yeah cause signing an Israeli to play football is clearly supporting Israel in their political war with Palestine :smiley-laughing002:

Celtic is a club open to everyone, except israelis of course. What in the name of * does celtic football club have to do with israel? Why should we support the palestinian cause? Because you want us to?

Precisely my point Padmill! I will be devastated if this goes through, and I will be giving up my season book because of it.

So some fans are on the verge of throwing away their scarves and burning their season tickets because the football team they support is signing someone from a race they don't like?

Have I heard that somewhere before?

I don't think I'll be able to sleep now. Will Gershon be running about Celtic Park with his Star of David showing?

Here's me playing devil's advocate (the point below is not necessarily my opinion).

Whilst I completely understand why people want to support the Palestinian people via a comprehensive boycott of Israel, why - in the interests of consistency - don't people also enthusiastically boycott (to name but a few) Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States and all the Latin American countries as well?

These were countries also founded on and sustained by genocide, occupation and the continuing negation of the rights of indigenous peoples vis-a-vis a settler majority.

And before anyone says, "Ah, that was historical" - just take a look at the conditions in which indigenous peoples live in all the countries mentioned above. Today. Now.

    What are you talking about?

He hasn't said he will sit in the stands everyweek and call Gershon a Jew ****** or anything of the sort. He says he won't be back - which his his choice.

I seem to remember many people say the same thing when the whole Kris Boyd to Celtic rumour came about - not the same thing, but you get the picture.

Beram Kayal is a Palestinian, but Palestine is not recognised as a state, and therefore he can only play for the occupying state.

Celtic (thankfully) have nothing to do with Israel, but they are a part of the international sporting community, and as such, can be a force for good, and a force for change.

Not some fans - probably just me, tbf! Israeli isn't a race, so let's drop the racist tag. It has nothing to do with his religion, but all to do with his country's apartheid policies and the inhumane treatment of the population it belligerently occupies.

He was born in Israel and plays for the National Team. If he didn't consider himself Iraeli, why on earth would he do that?

But that isnt the players fault or a concern of the club, so what would be the problem?

Probably to further his career and show himself on the International scene. Same reason many Irish Nationalists would play for the North.

Let's not play this game. We all know how it works.

Kayal plays for Israel because he is an Israeli citizen and has consented to be selected for the Israeli national team.

This issue of his own identity can and may be completely different to what jersey he pulls on.

Has anyone even bothered to ask Kayal what he sees himself as? Is it Israeli Arab? Is it Israeli Palestinian? Palestinian Israeli? Just Israeli? Just Palestinian?

I don't feel that racist loyalist scum are welcome at the club.

This whole "open to all" notion is nonsense imo.
