Christ that was nothing, I remember a League cup match back in 82. I was in the Jungle and could hear the Airdrie fan.

Stewards eventually persuaded him to shut the * up, thankfully.

that was my first european game and the other games had been against motherwell inverness etc so i dont expect much of an atmosphere against those teams but last night IMO was different class my ears where hurting and if thats a bad atmosphere then i only wonder what a good atmosphere is

what does it matter what it was its cp legendry for atmosphere and what was with all the empty seats what happened to us being the best supporters in the world or is that only in the bigger games like rangers or cl the place should be bouncing for every game

    Hi,

    I (Supporter of Rapid) was quite disappointed of the home support in the Celtic-Park;

I decided to travel to Glasgow before the story from the 1984-Games came up so high in the papers...in the weeks after, I was not really sure, if this was a really a good idea...

My personal main reason for the travel cross Europe was to feel once in the life the athomsphere in a famous british stadium; i expected ear-deafening battle songs, eyecatching choreographys & stuff like that.
    --
But what the * was the reality?!?!?
Our away-support with 2.500 supporters blewed the 20 times bigger homesupport away.

While the homesupport seated all the times quite loudless, the Rapidsupport stand all the time, singing 90 minutes for their team.

Only for a very short period after the 1:1 the Celtic-Fans could be heard.
And the argument, that the fast 0:1 was the reason therefore is very weak.

When our Team is back, the support normally gets even louder....but Scotland seems to be different.

Also remarkable: The home sections was till 5 minutes before the game quite empty, also estimated 20 sec. (!!) after finish of the game, while the away sector was full at least a hour before and 1/2 hour after the game.

Unbelievable. Such a thing won´t happen in Austria; and normally we are not be famous for our football, but for skiing :icon_mrgreen:

    ---
    To the other things:
    +) Very nice stadium inside
+) Good athmosphere (at least in the pubs of the town)
+) no violence before, during and after the game - that i feared most in front

So I am glad to see forward to Nov 17th in vienna, there will be the ultimative match

    Greetings from vienna :50:
    Andrek

...and may the story from the unfortunate 1984 now rest in peace

more or less all british stadiums are like that...the most of the fans don't come to support and sing for the team etc..they come just to watch the match.

    I don't get it..

There are two "singing sections", why not make one singing section?

The atmosphere was very very poor. I think its because the expectations are so high now. When we go a goal down against the bigger teams in Europe in the champions league the atmosphere always rises and is amazing, but I think the shock of losing yet another early goal, aswell as the fact we were playing poorer opposition in comparison with previous years in europe sapped the atmosphere, well thats my opinion.

as you seen by the bad attendance we are not intrested in coming out to the europa league hence the average atmosphere . the fact remains we are not really into the europa league .

come to CP in a CL clash . you won't forget it . :50:

yip changed days! but of course 25 years ago we were able to buy alcohol inside the stadium also! which always adds to louder and more singing at games! nowadays! you get moaned at for scratching your * sack by either power hungry stewards or door faced auld * that give you funny looks if your singing and supporting the team! to me its hee haw about who we play its the fact there is always someone somewhere who tries to gate crash songs and the banners we use to generate atmosphere.if the gb for instance got more time and help from celtic to add to their displays? maybe then this will help all the other sides of the stadiums too! and giving the big girfuy to the door faced auld sacks that moans too.

and on another note? when we go to vienna i garuntee we will be * loud.

You know, to be fair. The rapid fans were one of, if not the best away support I have ever seen at Celtic Park. They were going completely mental through out the whole match. It was pretty embarrasing compared to the home support. They were most certainly louder than us the whole match.

The early goal cetainly didn't help the atmosphere at the start, I tend to think the games atmosphere is 'set' in the first 10 mins, so after that....most of us were quiet.

Your fans are probably the best in Europe. :50:

Was sitting next to the away support and to be honest I would kill for supporters like your team at parkhead. Sadly modern football has took over.
