Easily our best player and on a long contract meaning we dont need to sell.

We should be aiming to get top fees if we decide to sell our best players- look at what the huns got for mediocre players like boumsong.

 

Wake up and smell the coffee, we play in Scotland, we don't get much more than 6m for a top player(Petrov).

Anyway, he is still nowhere near the finished article and 7m would be a great deal for us.

 

The petrov deal rises closer to 8m depending on certain acheivements.

Im just sick of english clubs constantly undervaluing players from the spl. Mcgeadys a better player than many wingers in the premiership. Hes our top player so why sell him for that price.

I agree hes not the finished article but id be worried if he was at his age. Theres no point selling him just now when even if you value him at 7m, you could add a few million on in the space of 2 seasons.

 

Yeah, you're right mate, he's certainly not better than Hutton or Craig Gordon is he.

Craig gordon at that time was one of the best keepers in Britain and I happen to rate Hutton, granted not at 9m, that's partly my point, he isn't worth that amount, neither is Aiden.

If he has the season of his life and sets CP on fire, then he may be worth that amount of money but just now, flatters to deceive on a regular basis.

 

I personally don't think he is going to become this "world class" player, that many fans think. That is why i see 7m as a good price.

if he proves us all wrong , then maybe we can get 10m in the next couple of years, I just have my doubts as to whether he will.

Downing isn't worth 11m and he is a very good player.

Which isn't the same as his value in the SPL.
Same way that people don't think Mark Janko is worth 5million because he plays in a pish league and hasn't proved he's got it in a bigger league.

McGeady would be a 15million quid player in the premier league.
We should be holding out for 10million. He dosn't want to go anywhere, he's under contract for a few years yet - we don't need the money, so we don't ened to sell him. 7m would be a kick in the teeth.

 

I'm not so sure about this.

We do need the money, if we want to strengthen our forward line, which I don't think is strong enough, to last the season.

As I keep saying, if McGeady has contributed with plenty of assists and chipped in with at least 6 or 7 goals come Jan, then fair enough, I will take it all back but what has he contributed this season, where was our superstar, when the chips were down(Arsenal, Hapoel etc)?

 

I think 7-8m deal would be good for both parties. We realisticaly can't get more, although in ideal world we'd be rich now by selling Petrov for double the money we got, Larsson etc. Also, McGeady would develop more if he was playing in some of the top 4 clubs or in Munich, so it would also be excellent ofr him to see football besides Celtic where he spent all of his career. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him progress here along with club and to stay here forever, but I don't think that is possible.

if we got offerd 8 million id punt him and use the money to strenghen other areas of the team no problem! ( unless he starts to play like ronaldo of course.
