Caldwell to stay or go ?

Opinions on whether he should remain at Parkhead or find pastures new ?

 

If we can bring in another decent defender I would want to sell him.

We would need to get him to sign a new contract 1st so we could sell him at a decent price instead of losing him for nothing on a pre contract in January.

 

He can go for all I care. He has the cheek to come out in the papers running his * wee mouth off about how he aint paid enough! Well Gary if yer listening we dont pay for *. His overconfidence in his own ability means he doesnt even see the mistkaes he makes.

over and over again he would try a wee chip over 2 or 3 defenders, and ended up puting the ball out of play or to one of their players instead of doing the simple ball.

Another one was when maloney was through on goal and instead of passing straight through to him he trys to skin a player.

Although mogga increased his ego by basing the side around him!

 

Bring in a defender that is actually worth the 20k, Caldwell has been a liability for us in Europe, he gets away with it in the SPL only just.

 

I love the way the 2 players of the year are getting it thick. Get real. One of them is just a little off form and the other missed the whole pre-season. They are good players. OK a short stay on the bench may be required but we shouldnt not be even thinking of selling our 2 best players from last season.

Have you ever throught that the way the team is being deployed this season may have affect them. The fullbacks are pushed up to high IMO and that is exposing our CBs. Broony is being given a different role in every second gane.

 

pay is all relative and about comparison with other players around him. I think he is likely he is on poor money. He may be on much less than Mick for instance and that aint right. He is probably also on a less than Hinkel and Fox. I suspect that all players signed from other Scottish teams tend to be on low wages. He was POTY and I personally think the contract running down and the pay dispute is a major reason for his form slump.

Why he gets played in cm is a mystery to me when he can't even do his favoured cb position. He really is just a waste of space.

 

Caldwell is a liability, I would let him go but only if we bring in a decent solid defender who is worth the money and doesnt make the awful mistakes that Caldwell does.

he cares too much about the money and not enough about the shirt, i constantly critizize mcmanus but i dont think he would ever come out with anything like this, it proves to me caldwell shuld not be our captain.

We should have either sold him in the summer or given him a new contract as it's looking increasingly likely he'll go for nothing by signing a pre-contract in January.

Whether you rate him or not he's a Scottish Internationalists and the board should have ensured either he was given a contract if he's part of TM's plans or we would be in a position to make money on him if he wasn't in TM's plans.

 

I want to get him signed up now. The majority of the time, he's a reliable defender. I just don't like him playing in midfield.

 

I said it in the thread yesterday, the board have gotten this arseways.

He's contract situation should have been dealt with before the holidays and he either be committed to the club for the long term or sold during the window. Celtic have put themselves in a weak position and they can only blame themselves.

 

Caldwell should go, sonner the better for Celtic.

The arrogance of Gary Caldwell is unbelievable, here's a guy that obviously thinks he's far better than he actually is or ever will be. He points at this and that while on the park, slagging off everyone but himself, he's a joke when it comes to defending.

Even in his supporting role last night he still could do what he supposed to do, protect his back four. No Gary was of up the park trying to win the game by himself when it was 1-1, he appears to be a law unto himself, so I think he should be shown the door, the sooner the better for Celtic. He should take his buddies with him, Mc Manus and Hinkle are absolute crap.

 

I would sell him,he is over rated player.O'Dea is decent defender.

Carew was all over him against Norway, every Champions League campaign he's a liability.

He should not be allowed to play in midfield EVER AGAIN.

Despite this, he still appears to think he's one of the most talented 'ball-playing' centre-backs in the world.

20k a week is a bit steep for someone who can do the odd good long-ball, but otherwise is very average
