Don't think are backline is good enough for a 3 man defence

A 3-5-2 in the SPL? considering you don't want to play this formation against Arsenal, then I guess this is what you're talking about.

A 3-5-2 would be more defensive than our current 4-4-2 which becomes a 2-4-4 when we are pinning back defensive SPL fodder. Tell me who out of your back 3 would offer more of an offensive threat than either Fox or Hinkel?

Our formation is fine and utilises our full backs who are both quality going forward. Aside from that, you could be playing 7 at the back and I still would be reluctant to start with McManus.

I sense a great deal of confusion in this thread. Obvious it is that a 3-5-2 against Arsenal suicide would be.

Lessthenever, SPL games accomodate this they might, providing pish enough the opposition were - leaving the eternal egg-on-face scenario as a pòssibility.

To sum up: 3-52? Muight as well just leave King Artur at the back and send the Knights of the TIm Table upfield - just like we used to do in Primary school...:icon_mrgreen:

No way. Hinkel and Fox have been our star performers and the majority of goals this season have had those 2 involved or even provide the killer pass. No way should those 2 be dropped imo.

With this squad we can't play 3-5-2.Maloney and McGeady on the wings?yeah they are quite good defenders. :31:

Hinkel and Fox are pretty much acting as midfielders at the moment anyway. So while I like the idea of packing the midfield thus forcing the opposition to go with long ball, I don`t think it`s necessary to change anything since we're essentially doing it now as it is.

Assuming by some freak event that we HAD to play 3-5-2, I believe Fox and Hinkel would be the wing-backs and we'd drop our best attackers, Maloney and McGeady!!! Madness

I'd play 3-5-2, but like this:
    ----------------Boruc-------------
    ---Caldwell-----Loovens----O'Dea--
    Hinkel-----------Brown---------Fox
    -----------Donati----Maloney-----
    ----------------------McGeady---
    ---------Killen--------------------
I think 4-4-2 won't get us anywhere. Shame we've got no real AM, but we've got to put somebody, so, Massimo gets in.
