How big are celtic???

Looking at the " are arsenal bigger than celtic thread" it amazes me to see some people think that arsenal are bigger than us. Money doesnt make a club big because if that was the case man city are the biggest club in the world and we all know thats not true. Also in terms of History, Tradition, Trophies and worldwide fanbase arsenal dont even touch celtic. Sorry folks its the truth. Only because some people might know of arsenal more than celtic doesnt make arsenal a bigger club. How many of these people could name the arsenal first 11 or tell you the history of the club??? Not many I would imagine. Also celtic have the most genuine support out of any club in the world. Just look at the amount of fans we take away in europe with us and all the supporters clubs that are spread around the world. Time to stop running ourselves down and talking ourselves up ffs. If we think every club in england is bigger than us why not support one of them then??? No thanks im a celtic fans through and through and celtic will always be my club.

 

Obviously I will support Celtic all my life, I have gone to the games ever since I was 4 years old. But I'm not going to kid myself on. Arsenal are a bigger club than Celtic. They have a higher profile than us and better quality players. More people will watch an Arsenal game on a Saturday, than a Celtic game. Thats just a fact. Its mainly down to the fact that they play in the English Premier League. If we were in that, then in a few years, we could be as big as Arsenal. Celtic are odds on to be playing in the 2nd tier of European football this season and if you look at the standard of teams playing there ( and fair enough, Celtic are better than the majority of them), its quite embarrasing. Also Arsenal are known of around the world more than Celtic, and fair enough there are hotspots where there are lots of Celtic fans, but more people have heard of and mabye even support arsenal.

 

Sorry mate but i dont agree with that. The only part I agree with is that the reason people watch them in because of the EPL but that doesnt make them a bigger club. Celtic have alot more fans worldwide than arsenal and you dont need official figures to say that.

It annoys me just as much as you mate honestly. But what bugs me is anytime we draw and english club in europe all this talk starts up and we run ourselves down and its annoying as *.

 

They are English. That's what they do and that's what you can expect from them. They slate everyone, so we can see that coming from a mile away. Let them talk their bollocks, they will * themselves once they enter Celtic Park.

 

Well said buddy!! I cant understand why people are even talking about this! Celtic are a bigger CLUB that Arsenal, ok maybe they have better players but thats because they are in a more lucrative league. Money does not make a club. Its Fanbase, history, tradition, trophies won, these are the things that make up a club. and Celtic are streaks ahead of Arsenal in these terms.
And those people even including chelsea in this, thats even more laughable!!!

Celtic have one of the largest fan bases in the world, i would bet its bigger than Arsenals. Everywhere you go theres always a green & white hooped top, not seen many Gunners fans on my travels. Celtic are bigger in terms of ou5 history and traditions, Arsenal are considered a big club because they play in the premiership.

Thats the thing, you need to stop peering through your green and white specs and see how small our club is in comparison to the Barcelona's, Man Utds and Arsenals

 

Mate they do have more money, and better players.
But, I wouldn't compare Arsenal to the Barcelona's, The manchester United's. I don't think Arsenal are a world class team. Barely in the top four. We could beat them, we are gonna have to work very hard, though we did beat Man Utd when we needed too.

 

Yes, we could beat them. If we get a decent result and get a draw at the Emirates then yes, we will go through. But they just horsed a team who is looking to break into the top 4 6-1. Mowbray will be * himself. That has proven that they are a world class team

 

i dont buy that for a second, Arsenal are not a bigger club than us, richer? yes, better? yes doesnt make them bigger. what are you basing a clubs stature on, how good they are at the moment? so were forest one of the biggest teams during the 80's, no they werent they were one of the best though.

As for the second part id like facts to back that up, i reckon IMO on a yearly basis that we sell more merchandise than Arsenal

Both are around the same, about 15-17 million turnover is generated from merchandising.

Celtic get around 18million from media and commercial activities whereas Arsenal get around 100million from media and commercial activities.

Football and stadium income is just under 40million for us and 95million for them.

They also have a property development company generating an additional 15million in revenue

I dont really get that bold part though, how is there such a gulf, im presuming thats season tickets, gate receipts and the sale food and drink. I know Arsenal play more home games than us as they usually get a longer run in europe but Inever thought the gap was that extreme. makes you think how big an achievment it is when we get reults against top english opposition.
