    Just read about this elsewhere and was wondering who else was lucky enough to get to see Pope John Paul II at either Murrayfield or Bellahouston Park.

    I managed to get to both and I can honestly say that both days were amazing....such a fantastic experience for everyone...I enjoyed Murrayfield better...I think because it was all young ones that were there and the atmostphere was electric.Managed to meet and chat to Tommy Burns at Bellahouston....he was brand new.

    Anyway....who else was priviledged to go to both ot either of them?

    One of the best days of my life was going to Bellahouston park along with another 250,000 others to see this great man ,it was a humbling experience to have mass said by the pope and for so many people in attendance you could hear a pin drop when he spoke ,never got a ticket for Murrayfield though .

    Same here Rab, it's definitely a day I will never forget.

    Shame you never got to Murrayfield, you'd have loved it. Tickets for Murrayfield were hard to get, I know we had a ballot to see who got to go....so happy I got one.

    Yeah the parentals often speak about this, my parents went to bellahouston park and they said it was a great day, my maw also says that her and her mates didnt go to their english exams as they did not want to miss this occassion, showing how much it meant to them.

    One of my biggest regrets was that I didn't get to see him. I've been to Mass at the Vatican with Pope Benedict, but I'd have loved to have been there to see Pope John Paul.

    Don't see what all the fuss is about, TBH. The way some folk were going on it that video you'd think it was Jesus himself who'd turned up.

    Was lucky enough to get to both. The school ran a bus up to Murrayfield and it was a fantastic day. For want of a better description, it was like going to a cup final. The journey up was brilliant and everyone was in great form but inside the stadium was something else, something very very special and I'll never forget being there. Don't know if anyone who was there remembering the chant of "John Paul, John Paul" echoing round the stadium.....made the hairs stand right up :50:

    I was lucky in that I wasn't supposed to get to Ballahouston but a couple of people were sick so I got one of the spaces on the bus. Like Rab said, the silence when the Pope spoke was something amazing to witness and very emotional. The man had amazing charisma and seemed to generate an unbelievable force of compassion with every word he uttered.

    * Bless and RIP.

    I suppose with me being an athiest, I can't really understand how people can be so moved by seeing a religious figure. To Catholics, he's *'s representative on earth. To me, he was some old Polish bloke who was appointed by humans, not *, and was the leader of organisation that has done/is doing some disgusting things. But, as they say, whatever floats yer boat.

    Here's a snippet of the original post....

    And here's your second post....

    You weren't at Murrayfield or Bellahouston so instead of staying out the thread you're doing your best to take it off track by having a pop. Wind your neck in and if you have something to say about your views on religion overall, start a seperate thread.

    Do NOT attempt to take this off topic again or I will report you.

    * sakes, it's a forum, its's inviting disscussion. Would you rather just a thread of simple yes's, with no comment after, because the question was just who went, not who went and how did you find it?

    Are objective opinions not allowed? This is a thread about the papacy and I think you'll find I've been totally on track, the only things I've written in it are my opinion on the Pope and an obversation about his visit (the thread subject).
