i don't care how much european experience naylor has he can't cut it. Fox should have started or what was the point in buying him.

seriously anyone else could have started that game other than donati, surely mccourt, flood, crosas all would have been a better pick.

also, it's either mcgeady or maloney whenever they both play one of them has a bad game, usually mcgeady because he's pushed out the rhs.

Naylor is off my list long time ago, but Donati can still make it.

donati played some good balls, and i was impressed when he lost it but tracked back to win it back. who out of mcgeady and maloney played poor? because both played well in the first half, although it lookd as if both got tired as time carried on

It seemed I was in the minority in picking the team for today in putting Fox in the starting 11 instead of Naylor. The answer everybody gave me was, Naylor has the experience while Fox does not. Well Naylor has experience at failing while Fox is the most highly rated LB in the championship. It was not about match fitness either since both players have just barely played games. Not to mention he put some dangerous balls into the box in the 2nd half while Naylor did * all and gave the ball away, defended poorly, couldn't cross to save his life, and ended up on his * more often than not.

Naylor better not start in Moscow.

I thought Mowbray would pick Naylor ahead of Fox due to experience playing for Celtic in these type of games. I hate to have a go but I can no longer make excuses for Naylor. Too many time he caused us panic and his distribution is probably the worst I have ever seen. Donati is too much ohh he looks really good, to ffs???????.
We still have a chance but that will all depend on who plays next week. I for one would hope these two dont feature.

maloney was great, mcgeady was poor by his standard. would have preferred one or the other out on the left and maybe caddie on the right, bold but he puts in a decent ball

if anything it's either donati or n'guemo as when any of them were near the box nither of them attacked there were plenty of times either could have had a pop at goal a couple time i'm sure, brown (who maybe we missed more then i imagine) crosas, flood or even mccourt may have tried which would have led to some sort of deflection which skippy most likely would have taken.

we really really missed an attacking midfielder who is sure to take a pop at goal when in some of the posistions n'guemo and donati were in.

btw not saying they had a bad game as they were simply playing football that was relevant to their overall respective defensive ways but instead stating that if a more attacking guy was partnerning one or the other maybe morecould have been done?

all if's and buts oh well

imo mcgeady played cracking stuff in the first half effortlessly waltzing past defenders up and down the flank and building up most our attacks, even winning a good few tackles

    what did it produce though?

maybe he would have been better playing 4-3-3 from the start.

who knows, anyways they weren't the real problem

donati and naylor have had there chances :bbpd:

agreed on your 1st and 2nd points! but i think that both aiden and shaun had a good display tonight and i think they should definitely be starters on the flanks!

donati was pish, same as last season.
agreed with mowbrays decision to play naylor, too early to play fox. why doesn't naylor realise he can't play a long ball?
end of the day we couldn't finish.
fortune should've scored 2, can't miss chances like that in europe, not gonna write him off yet though by any means.

donati wasn't terrible actually. he gave the midfield composure and did not look disinterested. N Guemo looked like a better Hartley but his passing wasn't as good as most of the team's.

Individually they were pretty good, but together in the central midfield leaves it without a scoring threat.

donati was poor mate, slow and gave the ball away far too often. should've played crosas instead.

    I can't believe I backed Donati.

I hold my hands up, he looked good against Cardiff and Al-Ahly, but I should have known better, a dog rarely learns new tricks it seems, for he was gash.

As for Naylor, I had him in my preferred starting line up, if only because of his CL experience and the fact he looked as if he had a rocket up his * pre season with the arrival of Fox, but pre season, what does that mean.

    Naylor was Naylor as always.

Trust us all to get carried away after a few good pre season games, well the hard work has well and truly begun now.

    Hail Hail

mcgeady doesn't cross early enough - its like hes trying to hard.

great player though if he could actually produce something he would be so much better

Donati played well, N'Guemo was probably the worst on the pitch in terms of passing but cant write him off just now.
As for Naylor, no more excuses can be made for him. He isn't celtic class and proves this every week with his standard of play. Why bring in a new "first choice" lb and not play him in the bigger games :97:
