    I'm pretty sure we were already in talks with Magners. It was reported around the first time this story was trotted out. I'd heard Guinness were interested too. DD will have plenty of mates to get on the blower to.

    Actually to me this may be a good opportunity to seperate ourselves from the huns even further financially. If we go it alone with a brand name that has worldwide reach we would make way more money for a shirt deal then anything the huns could come up with.

    carling have pulled the plug on the old firm "10 million strip nightmare for old firm"is the headline
    im reading it now
    carling have axed the strip deal that could lose the old firm up to 10 million pounds.the deal will be stopped next year

    now the 2 clubs are looking for a new sponser,the deal was worth 18 million ,according to experts the old firm will struggle to get sponsers that will offer 1 million a year due to the current climate

    my view

    yet another kick in the baws for the scottish game,first setanta.now this

    how much bad news can the scottish game handle?

    lI have been amazed that Celtic have never had Guinness on the strips although plenty of replica strips have had Guinness (stains) on them. I think it may be something to do with politics and Celtics republican image and Guinness not wanting their product to be alienated from some of their clientelle. I remember being in a pretty Rangers friendly bar in Northern Ireland and noticing that loads of the bluenoses actually drank the stuff and didnt let the Irish image of the beer put them off. Mind you Arthur Guinness and the family in general is alleged to have been seriously pro-British/unionist/orange.

    I just really really really really don't want Celtic to end up with some online crap betting site as their sponsor.

    Though - come to think of it. Paddy Power would be hilarious!

    An american sponsor would also be good to raise the club's profile on my side of the atlantic.

    IMO the carling on the top looked quite bad. American sponsor does sound like a good idea no doubt it will be some awful looking one though.

    Coors is Carling. Same company. They don't sell Carling in the US, so they used the Coors branding.

    I think for Celtic, you're probably looking at the following as an american sponsor

    Insurance Company
    Bank
    Beer Company
    Liquor Company

    I wouldn't be surprised to see Bud come in with an offer. Something very very weird about a Celtic top with a crown on it though - even if it is the King of Beers
