im liking mowbrays tactics, still no finishing touch, im not going to pick at individual performances like some as that is pointless in friendlies

I agree with those that have said McDonald and Donati look pretty bad right now.

What team have you been watching for the last three years? Possession football, overlapping full-backs and wingers turning infield. Looks like more of the same to me. Our style of play in this match has basically been an exact replica of the way we were set up under Strachan.

    Looking good so far.

NGuemo looks good. Strong, quick, always wants the ball and is forward thinking. A little slow to react in the challange but that's just a match sharpness thing.

Fortune is certainly bringing the midfield into play. McGeady has been involved in nearly every attack and looks hungry to win over Mowbray.

Hinkel and Naylor pushing up so far helps us pin them back and gives more freedom to McGeady and Maloney who so seem to be enjoying it (although Maloney has been fairly quiet). Both fullbacks have been playing well, too.

Can't say Donati has me convinced yet, mind.

The * style is completely different from the * we have watched for the last few year you can tell a mile away !!! it might be strachans team but if you look at our movement with our full backs pushing on as wingers we look fantastic!!!!!! strachans team stood like statues at times and the full backs only got up when we were chasing goals !!!!

Its donatis first game for months he could have a part to play!!!

Ngeumo looks amazing and its his first game:50:

Mowbray is also experimenting playing 2 sitting midfielders in doanti and nguemo:50:

Am delighted watching this a just hope the goals come:52:

Skippy thinks in his head hes the number 1 striker at the club he feels he dont need to try , basically said as much in his news paper interview , saying he still feels hes number 1 , sorry skippy but bullshit you need to get your * in gear or find your * on the bench or sold ,

He's lacking any desire , he should see it as a challange to make him up his game and put pressure on him abit like Boruc , but hes doing what any player would do and ups his game etc

Overlapping full-backs were probably the main feature of Strachan's team. The only change is that our wingers are coming infield earlier. Under Strachan, they came infield at the 18-yard line. Under Mowbray, they're coming infield just after the halfway line.

Aside from that, everything is exactly the same. Remarkably so actually.

Tell me what's different between the way we're playing tonight and the we we played in every match under Strachan.

I can't think of anything other than the wingers coming infield earlier. Everything looks exactly the same, which doesn't bother me in the slightest. I loved the football under Strachan and it looks like Mowbray has a similar philosophy.

The first half has been nothing like the way Strachan plays. For example, n'guemo is making a huge difference, he's strong and always forward thing, got an eye for a pass too.

We're playing one touch football with a purpose and constantly moving. The amount of times I seen our midfield pick the ball up and look about as if to say "what not?" under Strachan was unreal.

This team is playing nothing like the way Strachan had the team playing. Although I'm not reading too much into this, I'm looking for fitness and mobility at the moment. Tactics will change in time and so will our style of play, it wont change with a couple weeks training and two friendlies.

You're right about N'Guemo actually. That is one of the minor differences from Strachan's team because he didn't play with a defensive midfielder. So if anything, Strachan was more attacking.

But I didn't see any difference at all in the first half from what I saw in the last three years.

Exactly, for the poster to say there is a huge difference in the style of the team 20 mins or so into the game, is a bit unrealistic.
