a bid of over 7 million would definitely be worth considering in my opinion ---

not easy to replace him though, he has his qualities

We turned down £8m before he played a competitive match for us.

I wouldn't sell him unless a ludicrous offer came in. Somewhere over £10m.

After we played Newcastle in a friendly, Big Sam offered us £8m for him.

To be honest, I'm yet to be fully convinced by Brown.

As he was winning accolades and praise last season, what I saw in a lot of matches was a guy who often failed to find his teammates with the simplest of passes.

Having said that it was not long still after his sister died and no doubt it would have been tough for him, and I think we'll see the best of him under Mogga.

I'd say £7m would be a decent price though, but he has the potential to be worth even more if he can put in a couple of barnstorming seasons.

The man will just get better and better, we should keep hold of him.

So, what exactly does Scott Brown offer us to make a £7M bid worth turning down then?

Some posters have come in and asked if I am joking, told me I need a lie down, thrown petty insults, and quoted awards he's won, rather than telling us about his 'must have' qualities. I dont really recall anything from the pro-Brown brigade actually stating what his strengths are, and how he benefit's the team.

So, what's so good about "Broonie"?

I don't think you'll find a more energetic, hard-working and determined person in the U.K. save for Rooney perhaps.

His finishing and general final third play obviously needs work (surely Mowbray is just the man for that) but he is colossal in midfield. The kind that can dominate more technically savvy through willpower alone.

£7 million? You've gotta be joking.

Watch him in the CIS cup final where he ripped them apart.

Aye just judge his 2 year tenure over 4 or 5 games. Afaik we've had a pretty decent record against the huns of late no? :bbpd:??

Oh aye and as patto says - CIS cup final?

He might not be the finished article yet but he is only 23, all he is gong to do is improve with time. I do understand where you are coming from though his passing in some games is more than suspect and he is not the most creative player in the world. You did ask however "what's so good about Broonie" well he's strong, fast, and supremly fit. He's tough in the tackle and he also has no fear when he comes up against some of the best players in the world. So yeah i think he is probably worth keeping.:icon_mrgreen:

Good player, but i think alot of our fans got carried away a bit last year.
I'll repeat, good player, but at the same time I think he's over rated.
Wouldn't want to sell him but if a big bid came in, say double what we paid, and we were sure to reinvest it, i would take it.

To be honest mate, There aren't many players in the Celts team that you would turn down a bid of 7m for but I think Broon would be worth holding onto even if 7m was bid, nearer 10m I would accept.

I have to agree with TG, like I did few pages back on this thread.

Broony should be sold if 7 million offer comes along. I don't think we can get that much money for someone currently, except for Boruc or McGeady maybe.

I rate Broony as a solid DM. He's a butcher with some skill. I can't oppose his determination, energy and hard, hard-work. We haven't had a player like that since Lennon. I see him as a good player for now and for future, but we can't deny that he may someday wish to play in EPL and we can fulfill his desire by letting him go. We can earn good money from that transfer, but it's not all in money. We have to keep him for as long as we can, or as long as we don't find suitable replacement. I guess N'Guemo can fit into his poition without problems.

I don't like the logic though. Brown along with Boruc, Caldwell, McGeady are perhaps the players that can attract the highest fees. But why sell?

We are secure financially so don't *need* to sell. If we want to compete in the CL we need to keep the players that are deemed to be worth £7m and above. Selling them is a false economy because imo they will be replaced with less quality for less money.

They are our best players and we must do anything to keep them. We don't necessarily need to sell, but what will happen when some of them, say Broony and McGeady want to go elsewhere? They are young, excellent prospects, but they may want to go down south someday. We mustn't stand in their way. We did our best of teaching them to become good footballers, but when it's time to move on, it shouldn't be stoped.

I know we are secured in financial matters, but that's business. Selling and buying, you can't expect player to be in a club forever, especially such a talent who is wanted by many clubs. If he stays, along with Aiden, I will fly to Glasgow somehow and give lads utmost respect.:50:

Not a chance. Brown is way to important to our team. Plus given his age he has a lot of upside too. Every player has a price tag for sure. But right now Brown is one of our most important players and selling Brown would be a big mistake.
