I would take Ireland if he can sort his attitude. Dunne is injury prone, and Given is pretty poor. I was hoping that Given could do a "Friedel", but his best days were behind him since Euro.

Dunne would be our best defender if we signed him easily, in fact St Ledger would easily be better than Ambrose too. St Ledger and Dunne went on a run of 3 goals conceded in 14 games before the Euro's. Getting both them as signings would improve us.

I'd take Ireland in a heart beat too, if he can get to his best he'd be an absolute steal.

Given, no, he won't get played ahead of Forster and I can't see him being on the bench the whole time.

If Forster were to leave I would snap up all 3. Ireland's wages would be a problem but at his best he is a quality centre mid and in fact would be perfect for what we need.

They would provide experience, pedigree and the squad would be instantly improved.

If they were 3 Scottish players he would not feel the need to mention it.

There are some on here who do not want players here because they are Irish.

    Ronnie Simpson was a stop-gap measure...too small, lightweight...never make a decent keeper...rest is history:52::50:

Stephen Ireland's ability is never in any doubt, he's a class act on his day. I would need some sort of assurance over his behaviour though.

I'd take Given for a year or two if Forster went.

    No to Dunne.

    This.
We have a good young team as Lenny says here at Parkhead, yet some want to fill it with OAP'S FFS :31:

If Forster were to go, I'd taken Given.

    I'd take Dunne regardless.

Under no circumstances would I take Ireland.

This is just cause they are Irish.

They have been failures in the last 3 seasons.

Not better than FF,Ledley or Wilson.

Another intelligent comment from Glasgowbhoy. "They" have been failures for 3 years he says as if "they" are an entity onto themselves. :87:

Of the three I would consider Dunne first depending on his ability to return to full fitness.

If they wanted to play for the mighty Celtic they should have come here 5 years ago, not for a wee swansong at the end of their career.

Dunne is an absolute slug, would rather Efe Shambles at centre back

Dunne & Given were both pivitol in getting Ireland to Euro 2012. That isn't me saying we should sign them by the way, just pointing that out though.

Dunne seems to be past it and has been linked with a move to the MLS for a reason.

Given seems to have lost it also, would be on too high wages and I'd prefer a long-term replacement for Forster. Also a better one.

Ireland might be a one-season wonder, he reportedly has an attitude and will want high wages I imagine. Most Villa players are on pretty big wages.

So no, I wouldn't want any of them (and no, it's not because they're Irish.)

Did you, or any of your cronies, read the guy's opening post?

Or did you just choose to ignore it to suit your ignorant view?

Let's pick 3 Irishmen out a hat and link them to Celtic. That's always a fun game. :smiley-laughing002:

I don't know why anyone would want us to sign Shay Given. He's finished.
Never been much of a fan of Dunne. I'd rather see us sign a younger defender.
Ireland has talent but a questionable attitude. Too risky for the wages he'd command.

    It's 3 no's from me.

    Agree with all this.

Ireland is the only one I wouldn't mind coming in. But his attitude can be * and i'm sure he has a ridiculous demand in terms of wages.

No chance I would want us to go in for any of them!

We have a fantastic squad with some young players - and many coming through - who could do a good job in the league. Coupled with our scouting network at home and abroad i'm certain we can find CL abled players for a snip and on much less pay wise.

Don't mind signing players on the cheap and building them up - we have to do that but to sign EPL has-beens is embarrassing and no doubt we would be the * of many ignorant premiership fans.

In all honesty Celtic should be staying as far away from England as possible, it is an inflated market with average players a plenty. Hooper (and a few others) were good finds, but that's rare
