John Souttar, young 16 year old defender made some of our defenders look like Du Wei.

Johnny Russell, again, and get Hooper out. At least Russell will give a 100% and adds some pace to our attack.

    Same with Mackay-Steven.

Ryan Gauld was excellent today. Still got a few years to fully develop as well! Only 17!

Cannot believe that Souttar for Dundee utd is only 16.

Seems he is only being suggested because he is 16, absolutely no substance to the suggestion.

Well he is 16 and he played very well today. Don't see why it's unusual to suggest his name. Looked a better defender than Ambrose.

He played very well in 1 game therefore Celtic should sign him? Seriously?

Leave the teenagers to develop where they are. They'd only rot in our youth setup.

    Mackay-Steven, however, I would take.

Not just one game, he has played really well on a number of occasions this season. He's 22 and he would cost less than a million quid. Why not sign him up? I love all these fans that come out and say all these SPL players are * and garbage etc, who we expecting to sign honestly. In fact nvm that I think David Villa's contract is running out this summer.

We should only definetly sign really good SPL players... S.Fletcher, Russell, McCarthy.

Other decent SPL players Hartley, Robson, McDonald, Riordan, Stokes, Naismith, Novo, Mackay-Steven we could sign as squad players if we need them but they are not definite signings.

However players who do well in the SPL but you just look at and think not Celtic class or who are over-rated for some weird reason but still clearly pish Goowillie, McArthur, D.Wilson, Dixon - leave the * alone.

The danger is though, we are at that stage where players will get signed and picked up by somebody in the championship/lower premiership. If we don't sign say Russell for example he will be offski to a team who can offer him more wages and then his value will go up and he will probably be out of our budget. We have to and we do often take risks with our signings, which is all part of football. Guys like Steven Fletcher weren't brilliant or 'really good' when they left Hibs, fletcher had 52 in 189 appearances for Hibs which is decent aye but not staggering. So it often all about seeing a decent/good young player and taking a gamble on him.

Aye, the statistics dont mean anything though. You should be able to tell a good player by his ability on the ball, movement, and other skills.

Steven Fletcher was at Hibs a player who was decent on the ball, decent in the air, had decent pace and strength, good work rate and an intelligent player not great but a well rounded player you could see would improve playing with more intelligent and better skilled players and by getting a bit fitter and more experience.

I see the same with Johnny Russell now.

You've got to have decent basics to work with which McCarthy also had.

Where as players like Goodwillie and McArthur for example, theyre really poor technical players - aye hard working and mobile but they have no intelligence in their positions either and are just very average players, there not much you can do with them.

We should keep an eye on him. It could well have been a one off but there is definitely potential there.

Track him for a season or two.

Aye it depends on what you want from a player. Do you want a lot of goals, do you want a link up man etc. I never rated Goodwillie at all either tbh. It's also how we develop these players. They might have good raw talent and its up to us to guide and shape these players into a better more rounded product. Which I think we've done a good job at so far.

I do agree with you about tracking him, but I really can't see him remaining a Dundee United player for the rest of the summer. He's got a lot of interest from the championship, so if its not us it will be someone else who will snap him up.

Russell does not deserve to have his name next to Fletcher or Mccarthy.

I think you may have went off on a slight tangent, who is 22? The 16 year old?

Mackay-Steven showed once again yesterday why we should sign him. Every time he gets the ball, he is direct, bags off ability, and has an end product. I was always worried when he got on the ball. I've said for a long time now, and I stand by it, I think he is a better player than Forrest.
