    Mcghee is pish.

Mowbray could do ok. Its the fact he sacrificed results for good football puts me off.

Bilic offers something different. He has that potential to be managing one of the top clubs in the world. You cant really say that about all the other managers, they are all championship and spl quality and are likely not to make the top.

I didn't say Bilic couldn't or wouldn't be successful in club management but the fact is he's untried and has less experience than McGhee or Mowbray yet a lot of people seem to think he's better qualified for the job.

Just seems a pretty scary contradiction in terms to be honest.

I do agree though that the guy has an appeal to him, as do a lot of ex players but it won't stop me being very wary of him getting the job.

Slaven Bilić has no club management experience!

Why are people so keen on Slaven Bilić when he has no club management experience?

We just saw last year at Chelsea a very good international manager in Luiz Felipe Scolari showing that club and international are not the same thing.

I think Slaven Bilić would be as big a gamble as John Barnes as they both had no club management experience.

Scolari has managed clubs before Palmeiras, Cruziero, Júbilo Iwata, Kuwait

Bilic why not look at the other names being banded around.

I agree he would be a risk, but no where near as risky as Barnes was.

We don't know how he would cope with the following:
    1. Identifying good players within our budget constraints
    2. Dealing with players on a daily basis
    3. Coping with the daily pressures involved in club management
    4. Dealing with the press on a regular basis

    We do know that:
    1. He can identify good players (promoting some of the youngsters from the U21's to full internationals)
    2. Work with young player (his time coaching the U21's)
    3. Is passionate about football
    4. Is tactically aware and has his team playing good football

All the managers that we have been linked with recently are all risky.

Well sadly our current squad isnae quite of the same standard as the Croatian national side

No-one can question his talent at international level but im not sure why people are so excited by this guy.

We need someone with a proven track record of signing good quality players on the cheap, and the ability push a team forward through a gruelling 45+ game season.

i`ll support him if we get him right enough :celt_2: but naw.

Some of the managers we are in for only have 1 or 2 years at club management and they are being seen as qualified.

I've seen enough of Bilic to know he has the makings of a top manager. Yes its a gamble, I just think he'll have something to prove to the world and will put his heart into it.

Why point out the obvious ? people who watch football know this and the reason people are interested in him is because of his style, the way he plays the game, fast, flowing football.

The way he conducts himself at media conferences and during the games. The tactics he sets out against different oppositions.

There is no getting away from the fact he has no experience at club management. A lot of it is just down to a gut feeling that he would hit the ground running.

The likes of Mowbray, Coyle and Martinez are very inexperienced as well. At least Bilic has more big game experience than any of them.

Its a gamble, but any manager is.

I think he's exactly what we need. We need something to energize the club, get the fans talking, get the tickets selling and he would do that imo.

Yes he's a risk, but essentially ever manager is a risk, the ones we're looking at are not proven on the level we want them to be at, so I think he'd be a fantastic risk.

Rangers fans at work are praying we don't get Bilic.. that says a bit in itself.

All rangers fans be laughing at every manager being mentioned except Bilic. I'd be a worried celtic fan if he took over in charge of the other lot.

Have read with interest the comments posted earlier so just thought i put my thoughts into the mix, in my personal opinion I would like to see Bilic given a chance, You don't get to manage an international team without some merit!!! ok club football is more intense but i believe he could cope well. He has got to be given an opportunity at sometime by someone so why not us. Being realistic we are not going to get a top flight manager!! we can't compete with the EPL, Spain italy or the likes. At the end of the day i have supported the hoops for over 50 years and will give the new manager my support whoever it may be. It saddens me that we are linked with managers who appear to me to be on the way down, I will be happier if we appoint a manager who is on the way up!! The names Like McGhee ,Mowbray, leiven, Collins all leave me cold and others with the likes of curbishly, Hoddle, Adams frighten me!! out of work has been's. I hope and pray we appoint someone who is coming here to prove he's worth a shot at managing the greatest team in the world( In my eyes) Fingers crossed that the board have the bravery to appoint ambition and forward thinking, and not someone who is only here to add it to his CV

Aside from exciting the fans, i think it would excite the players also.

I can envisage a few of our better players leaving if we don't sort ourselves out with a good manager, whereas if Bilic came the levels of optimism would be through the roof and there would be a great atmosphere once again which i feel big game players would relish.

I have no doubts that if Bilic was appointed we would go into these CL qalifiers on a serious high plus i reckon with his connections i feel he could attract a much higher calibre of player than any of the other managers named so far.

Come On Give Us Bilic!! :50::50:

Croatia insist Slaven Bilic will not be leaving his position as coach in order to take over at Celtic.

Bilic's agent revealed last week that the former Everton defender is keen to discuss the possibility of replacing Gordon Strachan at Parkhead.

Strachan stepped down at the end of the SPL season and a string of names have been linked with the job.

However, Bilic is unlikely to be taking over the Old Firm giants after the Croatian Football Federation confirmed it does not wants to lose its coach.

"Slaven is in the base camp preparing for our World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Saturday and he is totally focused on that," federation spokesman Davor Gavran said in the Daily Record.

"He has been connected with a number of top jobs in the past, but his intention is to stay with the national team to reach the World Cup finals.

"He won't quit until the end of the qualifying campaign and we hope he'll still be here for the finals and beyond."

How is it becoming a joke? as far as I'm aware we haven't interviewed anyone for the job yet, therefore we haven't actually offered anyone the job yet.

Of course Croatia are going to say they don’t want to lose their manager, * we don’t even know if Celtic are interested in Bilic.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>

The press know as much as we do, nothing, so I wouldn't believe half the stories they've printed regarding our search for a new manager, in fact half is being generous - I don't believe any of the stories in the press (that way I get to hold on to the little piece of sanity I have left :icon_mrgreen:)
