Why this guy rather than Coyle, Mowbray, McGhee, Collins, Levien etc?

He has done well with Croatia...but international managers inherit players and are as good those at their disposal. One of us could do well with brazil for example.

He'd be really good here, trust me. Fans would adore him, he's a great showman and his managerial skills aren't reaching their peak just yet. Just because he doesn't have club experience, doesn't make him a bad coach. As I stated before, I prefer Rijkaard before him.

Well, he's better than Levein, Coyle and McGhee anyway.

The guy is regarded as the second best international manager today, with a win ratio of 70% at international level. Surely you can see how the fan's want him?

I can see the interest...but he is an international manager who is as good as who he inherits.

Mate, you ask too much. If we hire Bilić, some things will be changed here. Have you noticed that I didn't mention Mowbray?

Out of that list you have there, the only one I'd be happy with other than Bilic would be Levein. I think he's a great man manager and will get the best out of most players.

Coyle, finished 5th.. just because he supports us doesn't make him the man for the job.
Mowbray, no thanks, just relegated. Plays good football, but doesn't seem to have a plan B for when the pretty football doesn't work. Much like Strachan in that respect.
McGhee, look at his record.. 1 good season with motherwell doesn't qualify you to be good to manage Celtic imo.
Collins, don't make me laugh.. again it's going to 'being celtic minded'.

Now, Bilic.. He's young, adventurous, he took 4 players from the U21's to full international with Croatia.. so he would bring through young players. I just think all the people you suggested are gambles other than levein, but I believe to get the club pumping with excitement again we need someone like Bilic and he's a gamble I'd be happy about.

    :50:

I hope people who are talking about his 'contacts' in the croatian game realise that croatia isn't part of the EU, so it might be pretty hard to sign these young players.

He'd be better than Collins and McGhee based on the fact both are not great managers. The others there is an argument for at least.

30 games in charge of Croatia isn't much to go on so I would say it's his character more than anything else that people are attracted to.

I just mean only being in charge for 30 games isn't a lot of experience to judge someone on, it's not even a full season in club football that's all.

He's done well with Croatia no denying that and I agree he'd be better than some of the names being mentioned but there are arguments for the likes of Coyle or Mowbray all the main candidates should be spoken to before a decision is made.

It's nice to see that one of the female members actually talks and cares about Celtic.:50:
Back to the matter at hand, I like Mowbray's attacking, passing football.

Thanks, I'm sort of addicted to Celtic :56:

I like his style as well, my only question would be if he'd be willing to compromise it in certain games where you just have to dig in to get the result.

Great Motivator - He gets the best out of every player, builds a great team spirit.

Good Tactician - Outfoxed England at Wembley.

Big Impact - The buzz on here shows people take to this guy and he will get the fans going.

Huge Potential - 2nd best international manager at the moment

Experience at High Level - Played and managed at high level

Contacts - Knows eastern europe very well, having managed croatia U-21s he knows the up-and-coming players. Could bring in a few young gems, something Lawell would welcome.

Language - Easier for the likes of Donati and Hinkel and whoever else he brings in.

Intelligence - Smart guy. Could quickly take on the learning of day to day management

Desire - Has said through his agent he want to win, take this team further in the CL. Its his first job so he'll be hungrly

Great with Media - Has shown he can communicate well with the media, something that was seemingly a problem with GS.

Flair - His side plays good attractive football, but can also win ugly

To me, the only downside to this guy is his inexperience of club management. Yes it is important but I believe he can hit the ground running.

His qualities listed above blow all the other candidates out the water.

Glad to see I'm not the only one buying heart and soul into all this Bilic is some sort of Celtic saviour myth.

Yes the guy has experienced some success in international management but it's very far removed from the stresses and other compications of club management. And for those who seem to think he'll attract Croatia's best players to CP....you might want to check the rules regarding work permits and amount of foreign players we're allowed to play.

I'm not saying Bilic wouldn't be successful but the way some people are going on about him in here you'd think he was the messiah riding in on the wings of the angel Gabriel FFS.

Oh and one other thing, for those who are so down on McGhee and Mowbray....they're both more successful in club management than Bilic is. Whether you choose to acknowledge that fact is immaterial as far as I'm concerned but it is fact nonetheless.

I should state that I'm not in favour of Mowbray or McGhee taking the job, but I do respect their talents.
