I agree with that, but look at Strachan. Was he silent manager? No. He was joking all the time and gave fans a good laugh. I think that Bilic, despite his lack of club managing experience, can do a pretty good job here.

Club management and international management are two different ball games tbh and several managers have shown that and I dont like the taughts of any manager learning their trade at Celtic. John Barnes tried it with an experienced hand, Dalglish beside him and failed miserably. Celtic requires experienced managers with a good track record, anything less and it will end badly

what makes you think bilic would?
as a manager he has won nothing. croatia have been a nation who have been there or there abouts for years now. also he doesnt have experience of doing it week in week in out as a manager. im not sayin he couldnt , im not sayin he doesnt have a lot of potential. all im sayin is that he would be every bit as big a risk as coyle/ mowbray etc

no......international level is a far superior level than championship or bottom 3 premiership...your talking about playing in world cups and european championships look at the size of croatia look where they were 10-15 years ago...from a war torn nation think of the rebuilding etc its speaks for itself getting to quarter finals and semi finals of the two biggest competitions in the world !!

the thread is called why are people attracted to Billic?

i offered some reasons as to why they may be attracted to him, in a light hearted manner in part and a serious note afterwards

I didnt mention whether he would be a good manager

i only said we should talk to him at least - he is the manager of Croatia and if it is true he is interested, I believe Celtic should talk to him and hear what he has to say - is that not reasonable?

i dont know what your managerial credentials are so i have not implied anywhere whether or not you or any other fan on this site would be a good manager of Celtic

not arguing about the level hes managed at but croatia have far better players than any of of mowbrays or coyles teams. every major tourney they are in since the war they have been there or there abouts because they have some fantastic players. if bilic had taken lithuania to the level croatia play at then id be sayin hes a genius, fact is croatia are an established top international team and have been for more than a decade

We will end up with McGhee, cheap option who won't want a huge budget. I'm afraid thats the Celtic way nowadays!!

Errr, if you complain you'll be in breach of your own contract!

It will be written into whoever's contract that Lawwell will handle transfer policy and contract negotiations. That term will not be negotiable. You can thank MON for that one

Strachan did it for the challenge it posed and got slated for it

Bilic would get a statue if he won a league under Strachans conditions, sad really tbh that people didnt realise what he actually had control over and what he just had to deal with.

It's sad that history will be kinder to Strachans tenure than a lot of the fans have been.

IMO people are attracted to Bilic because of his character and very little to do with his managerial experience (as he doesn't have too much of that), personally, I don't really think any of the options suggested to date are better than GS and they all have similar risks. I thought it was time for GS to go, but only if we could get a better manager in - so far I'm not seeing that.

although strachan was successful, cant argue with that, i'd like to see a manager with an attacking attitude. a bit of flair that we didnt see under strachan. and i dont mean sacrifice results for performance. i cant see why we cant win and put on a show in this league with the players we have and 2 or 3 new players. to be honest the football has been awful to watch the last few years.

You really don't seem like the optimistic type. Big risk can pay off and the obvious can sometimes not.

Strachan tried to play nice attacking football but you need the players to do it. He tried to get gash players to play like Barcelona.

I think we need a manager who will just tell each player to stick at what they are good at. Do away with zonal marking as well.
