Strachan goes into away games thinking a draw is an adequate result, hence most of the time the team shows a huge lack of urgency - this can't be said about Celtic for the five years O'Neill was here. He went into every match to win.

You picked 1 element to look at so did I.

O'Neill signed Douglas, Strachan signed Boruc therefore Strachan is the better manager. O'Neill signed Sutton, Strachan signed Samaras therefore O'Neill is the better manager. You are proving nothing with those stats.

I could be wrong, but I think you're rather new to this whole forum malarkey.

classy mate, i could respond in kind but i wont.

    .

Seems to me, you started a MON WGS debate all by yourself, with this pitiful attempt at sticking another knife into the manager by comparing away records. I was merely pointing out the the only stats that matter in comparisons between the 2.

Do you think in 20 years from now we'll be discussing away records? no. we'll be discussing league titles, CL proggresion, and domestic trophies, all of which strachan has a better record.
    .

Again, one manager had Sutton, Larsson, Hartson, Petrov and the like, a lot easier to win matches with quality like that. is it WGS fault the board dont spend money?

    What a bizarre post.

This is a thread about our away record under Strachan and before him O'Neill. If you want to start a thread about both managers' respective signing then do so, but it has nothing to do with the point I'm trying to convey.

Well okay then, I'll see you on here in twenty years' time. But right now we're discussing away records. You could choose to contribute, or you could choose not to. It seems you've chosen the latter.

It's easier to win matches with a higher quality of player at your disposal, but it's also just as vital to have the proper mentality heading into the match, as well as the right man at the helm to get the big decisions right. O'Neill, on this front, has a clear upper hand on Strachan away from home.

Celtic have had the players at their disposal this season to have not dropped even half of the 21 points we've dropped on the road.

Also, you have to look at Villa's away record this season - O'Neill clearly has a habit of creating sides that know how to win and get the job done away from home.

Strachan DID inherit good players but for whatever reason they were all moved on, for example the Chris Sutton thread a few days ago. Sutton was shifted out because of his earnings for £0 and replaced with Dion Dublin. SUrely some premiership team would have paid a bit of ££ for Chris having all that experience and ability.

MON was a better manager for Celtic than WGS IMO, always felt far safer with Oneill going into big games and people used to listen when he spoke because he had everyones respect and spoke with passion and intensity, WGS interviews are a joke, quite literally most of the time, he clearly dosent think we deserve an honest explanation of events on the pitch.

Our away record has been as bad as the likes of St Mirren who have drawn a lot of game. I think they've got as good a strike force to choose from though lol.

This is where the problem always has been this season.

We weren't good enough. Simple as.

Mind you, at least we got a draw, as well as wins against better sides than we've lost to in the Champions League under Strachan (and O'Neill, for that matter).

    What players?

He's playing them all ffs, there was calls for his head when he kept dropping Crosas for Heid in midfield, he then plays Crosas, and what do you know, he was right, Crosas isn't up the job away from home....yet

He realised we needed strengthing in January, and asked his board to go and aqquire the players needed for 4IAR, the board didnt deliver.

He can only work with what hes got, at home and away from home, im pretty sure WGS knows we are *, but unless the board are willing to go the extra mile for players, I dont think you can blame WGS totally for the away record, the players also have to shoulder some responsibility.

You can bump this thread if we win the league next week if you like, after a home match - I'm sure my tail will be well and truly between my legs.
