Unfortunately no. My dad never had any interest in scottish football, he even occasionally backs the huns to win!!!:54: I grew up supporting man utd. Around 18 months ago I bought a Wolfe Tones DVD and saw the Celtic Symhony video. At the same time I was beginning to take an interest in Irish history and when I saw how popular the Tones are in Glasgow I did a bit of research and found out about Celtic being formed by Irish immigrants. I started following Celtic and the rest as they say is history!! To qoute the great Jock Stein " I wasn't born aCeltic fan, but I'll die one".

    What makes a Celtic supporter?

If you've supported Celtic all your life but you know diddly squat about the history and what the club stands for? Or if you've not always been a Tim but you know lots about the history of the club and have grown to love it?

Personally I think if you hold the club in your heart that's what counts. :shamrock:

I was surrounded by a Celtic supporting family - it was my folks (father a Celtic supporter from Govan!) that thought 'support your local team - keep away from the bigotry etc'...

    Airdrie!?:56:

So eventually my strong Celtic sympathies just came through after seeing the section B get rattled into some poor old men or weans after sining the Billy boys once too often for me. Made the decision one day that enough was enough....and came home to the fold. The Airdrie Onion is a prodigal son really.

You're so luck Andy. I envy you. My family are all Jambos apart from my uncle who's a hun(even worse!). At least I can call myself the black sheep. And I don't give a * how much my grandad is turning in his grave :56:

If I have kids they will be brought up the Glasgow Celtic way and they will be told all about Tommy Burns, Henrik Larsson etc etc :icon_mrgreen:

four leaf clover, just cant get enough.
Went on a school trip to London when I was 17 (senior year). Got real drunk in a lot of pubs and talked football. I already loved the sport but didnt have a team. I heard a lot about Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and the odd Fulham supporter. Also heard a lot about Liverpool and Manchester Utd but we took a day trip into scotland and went to glasgow. Got * drunk in a bar up there and met a few Celtic fans. Heard all about 67' and Larsson and Jock Stein and how they were up and comming (this was in 01) and the "all are welcome" mantra, been a life long fan ever since. I * traveled all over the area (in the us, bars, some bars had satalite that carried the matches, but never consistantly, always had to call ahead) to catch the Uefa Cup run the next year. Also been a Fulham fan since then but thats for their willingness to sign americans and how there fans welcomed a yank with open arms.

Special note, a year later my dad went on buisness to Irelenad and brough me back a Celtic top (already had the hoops top, he got me the old yellow NTL sponsor top) thinking it was a Republic of Ireland top. Was the best present Ive ever gotten. In the last few years been able to watch it a lot more. The internet is a wonderfull thing. Hoping to make it to a game this coming year after I finsih my research project.

Didn't ever watch pro football until I was 11 in Australia and I favored Barcelona... then for the 2002 World Cup I used to play as Henrik Larsson for Sweden on the Playstation and annihalated everyone in the game. Started following Celtic on the interwebs after that and 2003/4 sealed it for me as far as being a Celtic fan.

Watching on the internet the last two years has helped to completely solidify my feelings towards the club.

So no, I haven't supported them my whole life, but I've followed them much longer and much more passionately than any club by far.

I feel similarly about the USA national team.

No! My dads side are all bitter loyalists, they march in orange lodges, so as a family tradition i was made to "support" rangers. Strange enough the only rangers game i went to was at Celtic Park, Cup Final v St Johnstone. At the age of about 7, i could think for myself and decided to support celtic, after my mum got me my first top wen i was about 8 my dad didnt speak to me for about a year, and some of his family still dont talk to me now ten years on. There was a family wedding, which i was not invited to, yet my brother and sister were haha. Possibly the reason to why i hate Rangers so much, bigots and disgustin people who think its all about religion. Anyway i have supporter Celtic since i was about 7, will never turn back, i love the club, the passion and the support. Hail Hail :)
