nothing will change, dont hold your breath for good experienced players unless we get some on bosman. i cant see them changing a business plan that has seen us nearly debt free just because we get a few mill extra a year

Great news, Another good deal pulled of from Peter, especially in the climate we are in today.

Now lets Win the league and really turn the screw, Champions league football next season and we really could bury them. :56:

Anyone else here hate nike for exploiting those children in 3rd world and charging £50.00 for a football top. if you ask me it suits the corporate types more than anyone, the like of lawell and them!

Whereas Adidas, Puma et al provide palatial residences for their staff to work in, do they? Sipping champagne at lunchtimes etc before the tops themselves get sold for thruppence?

I think pretty much every team in Europe will have a sponsorship deal with companies who work under these conditions. The fact that Nike are THE household name is why they are held in contempt more than their competitors with regards to usage of slave / child labour.

Better than some of the * Diadora, Kappa et al dish out on tops, though saying that there really is only two 'big' manufacturers left as the rest are either under the Nike or Adidas umbrellas.

This is more financial good news for the club almost out of debt and a new lenghty shirt sponsership deal, if we can secure a replacement for carling when they run out ( as they aint renewing it) and get a good deal we will be very healthy financially considering rangers fc earlier in the week offered any unplaying staff voluntary redundency

Its good news, more money coming into the club always very welcome with the current financial climate.

Its all good news but it doesnt really excite me 1 little * bit!!!

    My reasons!!!

1> How much will the manager get?????

2> I really dont trust gordon strachans signing policy by this i mean he has signed far 2 many diddys, imo 5 or 6 good signings out of 35 is bollocks:38::38:

Surely this is a thread about Celtic signing a deal with Nike to produce our shirts and if someone wants to question how Nike produce those replica shirts then this is entirely a decent place?

Anyway, as i understand it is the 5m a year not kind of like an advance like record companies give out and then we might get extra cash on top of that if we sell, say, more than 100,000 shirts a year? Does anyone know how this deal actually works?

It just means that our revenues aren't really going to change from shirt sales for the next 6 years.

How the deal is to work:

A statement released to the stock exchange on Thursday morning said: "In return for the continued grant by Celtic to Nike of exclusive worldwide rights as official supplier of kit and certain ancillary products to Celtic Football Club, Nike will pay Celtic an annual fee plus royalties on Nike's sales of Celtic branded products, with additional bonus payments depending on football success."
The statement continued: "Based on performance during the current contract, fee and royalty income under the new arrangements are likely to be similar to the annual £5million royalty guarantee under the current contract."

Right enough SV revenues with your "aren't really going to change from shirt sales for the next 6 years" quote, but this extended continuity in light of the current financial climate should provide us with great happiness in my humble opinion.

Fair cop landing the same terms as the last deal in the current climate.

Nike have the infrastructure which allows us to grow the Celtic brand as well, things like promising to sell our strips in the club shop at the Camp Nou etc... will all be built into the deal and will all help us develop and reach our extensive fan base.

Delighted with it and Lawwell sounds the same.

The current deal is/was £25M over 5 years and this one is only barely improved on that if anything. The exact terms of the agreement arent disclosed yet but I cant see it being much more. This is more about continuation of a partnership to build our repuation worldwide and jersey sales worldwide which couldnt be done under Umbro because they are *.

Its good news, very good news given the economic climate but lets not get carried away thinking that it resolves all the clubs problems.

    Only 5M a season

It will be the same amount from Nike as we are currently getting under the current agreement.
