never in all my time studying the history of ireland or following current events have i heard of a "red hand salute".
its a prepostorous excuse.if it really existed surely you'd have orange order low lifes marching through towns with their arm extended and i have never seen it.
it comes from glasgow rangers fans having too close a relationship with far-right parties in britain methinks and the red hand salute was just a pathetic attempt to explain it away.
i certainly don't ever recall this salute making an appearance in ireland

the story they tell about the origins of the red hand is complete horseshit aswell.
they have it that in a race to ulster,to be the first to touch ulster soil and therefore claim the kingship,a hand was severed and flung across the water to win the race.

loosing a body part would have automatically barred you from sitting on the throne so cutting off your hand in an effort to win the kingship doesn't make a lot of sense

The salute is nothing to do with the Nazis at all. The salute is intended to represent the Red Hand of Ulster. Scum. :87:

That, in my opinion, is as stupid as someone trying to claim that they are using the swastika as a Hindu symbol of peace. (Which it used to be)

Oh yes, that would include Donegal too :56:

Its simple, we do something, they attempt to do the opposite just to get a rise out of us but they dont have a braincell between them and therefore dont have a * clue about what they are actually doing.

    Can Rangers supporters claim disability?

If they can get away with it without getting caught, you better believe it.

Being a man of Donegal descent, I raise the green finger to the Huns version of the red hand.

Well if they were using the salute as some sort of pro * gesture then they would definitely go down as thick as pigshit because I've seen Israel flags on display at several Rangers games. Bit of a contradiction there! :52:
