Reports in the papers saying the 'Tic are lookin to form a feeder club like the Catalans. Pop them into the 3rd Division, apparently a couple of SFL officials are happy for it to happen. A great idea IMO:50: it'd be great for the reserves and youth to get proper competitive games.
I think it would be great to go watch for a fraction of the price too!!

    Thoughts?

Apologies if their is a thread on this already folks!:celt_2:

Sounds like a good idea :50: as long as they do not let strachan anywhere near team selection

Would this be a kind of B team thing then?

Good idea IMO. I've been in favour of this idea for years. They must have finally started reading my letters dating back to 1989. Can only be a good thing.

All Spanish league teams do this. The B team is basically the reserves. Barça B and Real Madrid B occasionally reach Div 2 and manage to stay there too.

I think so mate. I dont reckon you would get first team players dropping down or anything like that though. Although, I wonder what would happen with players coming back from injury, would another sort of reserve team be made to bring them back slowly like happens just now?

We would jump at the chance and it would be an excellent idea, not too sure whether the backwards authority figures in this country would allow it right enough.

This might tie in with the idea from the sfa to do away with the reserve league ,and celtic are maybe preparing for that ,just a thought ,,thoughts :50:

    Would we be allowed promotion?
Obviously not to the SPL but maybe 2nd-1st Div?

Cant imagine being allowed inthe 1st Div it being so small but surely players wont benefit much playing 3rd division football.

Gerry playing in the 3rd division would be better than nothing, as I read somewhere that the reserve league will be scrapped next season, so at least it's still competitive football for them.

If it works on the continent can't see why it wouldn't work here.

The 3rd division teams would be up for it as it might entice more fans to their games.

    Good idea:50:

    For starters yeah.

The huns will struggle in the summer to have a first team squad of 20 players, so you can pretty much remove them from the equation. Then the knock on effect from that is all the hundercovers in positions of power will be deliverately going out their way to place barriers in front of it so it can't be seen that Celtic are progressing or have something Rangers don't.

    Sad but true I think.

Until the SFA bring their rules up to date and in line with Europe with regards to signing youngsters I think this is the only solution.

This seems like a strange concept. What would happen if our B Team won the First Division? Surely you couldn't have our B Team playing in the SPL against us?

I hope not anyway coz the way things are going the reserves would beat us! :56:

Apparently they won't be allowed to enter the Cup competitions. So we'll be spared any embarassment there! :56:
