Hinkel call-up

Just read that Hinkel has had a call-up to the German team for their upcoming friendly. I really wasn't too impressed by him at first but have to admit he has improved a lot recently. I just hope I'll be able to say the same about Loovens one day!

 

Hinkel is GARBAGE! I cannot for the life of me see how any Celtic fan can rate this guy. I've tried to see it, I've tried to watch him objectively but I just do not rate him. The only thing he good about him is he does get himself into some good attacking positions, unfortunately he then usually makes an * of it when he gets there! He is slow for a full-back, his tackling is poor, he is positionally weak, not particularly good in the air, his passing is average and his crossing is abysmal. I am so sick and tired of seeing Hinkel get to the byline then fail to get his cross above knee height...it's a joke. Try crossing it to someone's head for once ffs! Didier Agathe used to get slagged for not being able to cross a ball but I'll tell you right now, Agathe was a better crosser than Hinkel. This guy couldnae cross the road!

He is the worst player in our team at the moment imo. Naylor takes dogs abuse but I'd have Naylor in my team before Hinkel any day of the week. If Germany are picking this guy in their squad then German football must be in a worse state than I thought. He's gash.

 

Agathe was great - would love to have a player like him again!

 

He is average, i would much rather see his wages spent elsewhere.

 

I like Hinkel, very consistent, not our greatest player but does the job week in, week out.

 

Consistency is his strength, he will never be a star player but very rarely will he cause a loss for the team. Id rather play Caddis.

 

Why? Caddis was rank the last time we played him.

 

I like Hinkel, have always though he receives a lot of harsh, unnecesssary criticism. I think there has been a great improvement in his play since the beginning of the season too.

 

Hinkel is like most FB's these days, decent going forward but poor at defending.

 

Does Phillip Lahm not play in his position , highly doubt Hinkel will get anywhere near the team before him.

Hes decent enough at going forward, but has * crossing. Can't defend to be honest but hes like nearly all attacking full backs nowadays. He does a job a suppose

 

I like Hinkel, not the star player of the team but find me a mistake he's made. He does the job thats asked of him and he does it without fuss or errors. People slated Telfer for not having any flair but he did give Nakamura room to plunder with his overlapping runs but that went without any praise too.

 

Lahm was a backup to Hinkel at Stuttgart when they were younger :icon_mrgreen:

Lahm can play effectively on either side but who else do they have at FB?

 

Oh * no.....please don't mention that name Dempsey. Gives me nightmares just thinking about that guy in a Celtic shirt. Please please please don't mention him again....I'll even say nice things about Hinkel if you promise not to bring the 'T' word up again! HAIL HAIL

 

He played against Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo and did a solid job despite pessemistic fans stating that he'd be an embarrassment. Some people estimations of how bad some players are, are OTT

Re Hinkel, Germany are calling him up for the National Team, do you think that they've gotten it woefully wrong or that your judgement of him is slightly off?

All I want is some pace, a bit of positional sense, the ability to tackle well and to put the odd good cross in if they get forward. Not too much to ask surely?

From what I've seen of Hinkel at Celtic he provides none of these four things. And as for * Telfer I'm no even goin there. HAIL HAIL

 

So the country currently ranked 2nd in the World is calling up a complete dud, I see

 

Maybe they are still judging him on what he did at Seville(assuming he did alright there?) or maybe he fits better into a team playing a continental style? * knows. What I do know is that he looks rotten when he plays for us and that's all that concerns me at the end of the day.

Mark Wilson is a better full-back than Hinkel, and yet Wilson is only half the player that Jackie McNamara was. So Hinkel is way down the ladder in terms of good full-backs in my opinion. HAIL HAIL
