crazy wages are hitting celtic deals

gordon strachan has said ,he is shocked by the money pouring in to players pockets
wee gordy was in spain this week to watch winter break games involveing
    hoffenhelm and hamburg

but as he works to strenthen the team he is being hamperd by massive wage demands

the average wage in the priemiership is £80-000 per week,a player in austria is on an average of £40-000 a week

witch makes getting anyone in the transfer window almost impossible

some fans have urged Dermot Desmond to dig deep into his own pockets to strenthen the team but why should he ?just to please a couple of callers on a phone-in

we are trying to do the right things ,and i think the fans are more realistic

"evening times this morning" sounds daft i know the evening times this morning bit

    my view

i for one dident take in to account the wages,i just took it for granted that that would not be an issue, but now i read the ammounts involved i wouldent blame celtic if they just try and get by with what they have

pure greed in my opnion,by players agents and advisors

i reckon in the not to distant future football in general is going to ruin itself,by priceing its self out of anyones reach

You're right mate its * sickening. Clubs like city with no * heritage or tradition being given an open chequebook when a team like the mighty Glasgow Celtic struggles to get by. I know thats just sour grapes and that I'd be creaming myself if it were to happen but I can't help but feel the whole oligarch buy-out represents an unsustainable model.

When the average fan is struggling to find the balance between attending matches and keeping a roof over his family's head, I'm not sure I could sleep at night on £100 k a week.

I honestly believe that celtic have worked out that they can win the league on what we have, and try to accumulate some cash, its a risky business but i think it is right, could you imagine if we were in the huns position, prudent managing of finance is a depressing but realistic and snsible way to go, and under the present climate i really think fans should have faith in the club and its owners, its rotten but survival and slow progress is better than foolish accounting.:54:

The 'papers are talking *. The average wage of a Prem. player is in the region of £15-20K a week. There was a big report on it. It's only the superstars who are sitting on ridiculous amounts of money. If it was a quote from Strachan, I'd say he was exaggerating for effect.

Just googled it. In April 2006, the average wage of a Prem player was £13,000, not including win bonuses, etc. Obviously, there's inflation to take into consideration, but also the credit crunch.

have to agree , it is terrible

thats why i like celtics way about it, where managing to bring in top quality players through the ranks, maloney, mcmanus, mcgeady... and i think we've got agood eye for cheapies that turn out good, mcdonald 750k, naka 1.25m, Caldwell

i might be wrong but wouldnt that way about it make their wages cheaper ?

Totaly agree ,its going to end sometime im sure ,when * knows but the teams that have found sugar daddys wont be around ,celtic are doing the right thing there living within there needs ,and can any big teams down south say the same :87: i think celtics limit is 40 grand tops on any player ,whether that changes i dont know .

Chelsea how much have they spent ,multi millions ,yes theve won the premiership but there main goal is the champs league ,at least there in it ,man city ,i would be very worried if i supported them ,aye having all this money is great but theres no guarntees in football ,are they going to go through 5 managers and how many years to make a mark in there league ,i think so .

The main point is if tims post is correct where does that leave celtic in buying players ,if the average wage is the amount in question where do celtic shop ,we criticise if celtic buy a championship player but at the end of the day thats what celtic can afford ,football is not football anymore ,its more like[ one up man ship ] teams getting more money than the rest ,but its killing the game theres a bigger picture out there and it doesnt look to good for football as we know it .

Well a believe we are not spending because rangers are not spending!!! Maybe the board and gordon strachan think the squads good enough to win the 3 trophies, but i am still * shocked we havent signed a left back yet, we sign an 18 year old but he,s never going to get a game and i guarentee we will not sign 1 in this transfer window, i know it.

I was watching a re run of our game against vilareal from 2004 and i must say the squad was much stronger and could play and pass a ball. were as todays squad some times we cant string 8 passes together or run out of ideas when we get to the final third, our defence is also appalling at times and needs re shaped with a decent centre back coming in, there 2 slow, positioniong is awful at times, fair enough some time they play cracking games but they have been found sleeping to many times.

I was expecting a striker, with pace, a left back, but all we seem to be bringing in is trialists or 200 grand signings ease days, am naw saying go out and spend a fortune but we need to spend some thing we have been grinding out results for 3 month now and in every game we have been utter *, even against the huns, we also struggled to put away a 1st division team at park head????? its going to get to the point were we wont be playing in the champions league any more because the way the squad is just now and with only 1 team in it in future, with qualifiers etc, our squad wont be good enough to compete with the likes of, Atletico Madrid - Schalke 04, Liverpool - Standard de Liege, Dynamo Kyiv - Spartak Moskow, Fenerbahce,Shakhtar Donetsk, Juventus, theser are lasy years 3rd qualifiers but we could easily have been drawed with 1 when/if we have to qualify and with our great away record i doubt we will get in to the compitition.

The average wage in the Austrian league will be £4,000 if you're lucky.

The top player in the league is a 34 year old hasbeen from Germany.

Makes u appreciate Dermot Desmond, Peter lawell and wee Gordon all the more. Situation with Man city is a farce but Situation with Rangers brings a smile to my face.

    Good Job bhoys :50: :shamrock:

18 Months and the sky Gravy train will be ending, * help them down there. I think prudence is the answer tbh. On the other hand please sign a left back for us before we throw the league away.

There is no way that the Austrian league is on an average of 40,000 a week. Our league isn't anywhere near that and we've got two bigger clubs than them. If they can get over an average of 4,000 I'd be surprised. He'll the Dutch and portugese leagues won't even be near the 40,000 mark, even the Germans would barely be over that, if that.
